with Vassell, Hart, Deuce off the bench....we would need to use the 14th pick for another bench big man upgrade but it could probably be done....I still think overall a Durant trade does not look unlikely...Phoenix wants to trade him...there aren't too many teams in position to offer him a legit title run + Phoenix has that backup Center that we would need to get back in a KAT trade (Richards).

JB-Bridges-OG-Durant-Mitch is a line-up that IMO would improve us defensively and offensively. And our bench with Deuce, Hart, Richards + free agency would already look pretty promising.

The hope is that we add a secondary ball handler and minutes eating big (although im not sure if there is an option better than Precious Achiuwa here).

Ball handler options - Malcom Brogdon, Dennis Schroeder, Spencer Dinwiddie, Tyus Jones, D’Angello Russell

Bigs - Al Horford, Clint Capella, Tray Lyles

If they go BPA, I can see looking into Malik Beasley, Gary Trent Jr, Jake LaRavia

Over the past few seasons, Milwaukee has been able to get a fifth starter on the minimum.

Al Horford would be a good addition but can Clint Capela be had for the tax MLE? I think he will get a 3/40mill. offer somewhere (a la Jonas Valanciunas). Keep in mind he is just 31 so I doubt he'd be willing to take big paycuts for a title run...he will likely try to maximize this final lucrative contract.

I do think there is the undermentioned possibility of Mitch getting traded for a more dependable/durable player.

After last off season I don't know what is possible or not anymore, Rose went full Besart so now it seems like nothing is impossible.

I've been using https://www.spotrac.com/nba/trade-machine

I pulled off a few 3-team trades involving Memphis

The first one has us giving up as many as 6 players just to acquire Durant

Knicks acquire:
- Kevin Durant

Suns acquire:
- Mikal Bridges
- Josh Hart
- Miles McBride
- Pacome Dadiet
- Jay Huff

Grizzlies acquire:
- Tyler Kolek
- Ariel Hukporti

Knicks '26 Lineup
G: Jalen Brunson
F: OG Anunoby
F: Kevin Durant
F/C: Karl-Anthony Towns
C: Mitchell Robinson

This trade with PHX and MEM has us giving up OG and Mitch instead

Knicks acquire:
- Kevin Durant

Suns acquire:
- OG Anunoby
- Mitchell Robinson
- Jaylen Wells

Grizzlies acquire:
- Tyler Kolek
- Ariel Hukporti

Knicks '26 Lineup
G: Jalen Brunson
G: Josh Hart
F: Mikal Bridges
F: Kevin Durant
C: Karl-Anthony Towns
6th man: Miles McBride

If it's KAT for Durant with Memphis involved, it's a little easier.

Knicks acquire:
- Kevin Durant
- Jay Huff

Suns acquire:
- Karl-Anthony Towns
- pick or draft rights from Memphis

Grizzlies acquire:
- Tyler Kolek
- Ariel Hukporti

Knicks '26 Lineup
G: Jalen Brunson
G: Mikal Bridges
F: OG Anunoby
F: Kevin Durant
C: Mitchell Robinson
6th man: Josh Hart
G/F: Miles McBride
C: Jay Huff

The only way to acquire Durant without Towns would be using Anunoby’s salary.

I think the math works for an Anunoby + Hart + Tucker for Durant and Nick Richards trade.

But I’m not sure if it’s worth the depth issues for Durant at this point.

Because Phoenix is in the 2nd apron, they can only trade Durant by himself. They're not allowed to aggregate contracts (such as adding Nick Richards) according to Spotrac

That might have worked, but we went all in a year too soon. Fortify the bench and obviously listen in on everything.

Its possible you would need to trade Mikal for picks and then send those picks and KAT out to get Giannis. But I also believe that would net a semi decent role player replacment for Bridges in return. If Milwaukee is looking for a top under 30 player back as a top priority, KAT is a top 15-20 type guy, they aren't going to get much better than that.

Personally Im not trading 3 more control years of KAT for an older KD. However I'd probably do Bridges, Mitch and Hart which adds up right about to his salary.

Wouldn't that be something. Personally 1 of the 2 of Giannis or JJJ makes this roster construction close to ideal. I do wonder how the Knicks are thinking in terms of who they prefer to deal if all things were equal. Is it Bridges or KAT now that we likely will bring in a new coach?

Bridges, Mitch, and Hart is $2.6 million over Durant's salary, so the trade doesn't work for Phoenix

Both Phoenix and New York have to receive less salary than what they send out, which is why a 3rd team is needed to make a trade happen.

I like Mark Williams but with him and Mitch... Dolan will need to be a hospital in MSG at that point.

Since PHX can’t aggregate, 2 deals:

#1

NYK: Durant, Milton, Goodwin, 2031 LAL 1st, 2030 LAL 1st Swap
LAL: Mitch (exact trade they made for MWilliams)
PHX: Mikal, Hart, Knecht, Dadiet

#2

NYK: Dunn
PHX: Goodwin

This is beyond a horrendous scenario. You sell KAT on 5 cents to the dollar for a player you want to use as a 6th man?

We'd lose too much rebounding (Mitch and Hart), Defense (Mitch/Bridges),Playmaking (Hart) and durability (Bridges)... Team gets older and thinner,I dont think that makes sense either. Only way Durant makes sense to me is on a buyout contract.

From Wiretap: Suns To Ramp Up Kevin Durant Trade Talks Ahead Of Draft

So Durant to MIL, Giannis to us, Hart + salary fillers to the Suns. I'm just a little concerned that Phoenix won't sign off on this without a little physical coercion.
