So let me understand in the last few years when thibs had a bench of IQ, divo, deuce, hart, ihart he didn’t use them? See how stupid this sounds? When thibs has good enough players and depth he plays his bench.
Four of those 5 were also starters much of their time (IQ when JB was injured).
And yet they weren’t they all played significant minutes off the bench in fact IQ should have won 6th man award. Again your narrative is wrong, if thibs had quality players off the bench he’d use them, in fact knicks bench has often been there strength. However what Leon and co decided was they gave up depth to create a more talented starting 5 leaving less talent on the bench. Not thibs fault. Again it’s stupid to say if thibs had bench depth he wouldn’t utilize it
IQ did not see significant minutes until the end of his second year, thibs legit had him playing behind elf Payton. Divo did not see the light of day until grimes was injured last year. Ihart did not see the light of day or the minutes until Mitch was injured. He was playing behind both Mitch and sims. Deuce was only one of those 4 who was given the chance because he had to absolutely shine in the G league for an entire season before even being given a shot.
The point we are all trying to make is, we are very thin. We can’t risk injury to ANY of the current starting 5. But with the amounts he chooses to play them, we are headed down that road because of a refusal to let the bench grow with development.
