That’s not the point. The point is that following the Hillary Clinton triangulation to the right game plan - that has proven to be a failure in the past - is not the way to build enthusiasm and momentum in a presidential campaign.
Harris is playing “not to lose” and in doing so is alienating her base and dampening the enthusiasm we had for her in the beginning.
My enthusiasm isn't dampening at all when the alternative is the convicted felon who literally sh*ts himself in public while threatening to have non whites rounded up en masse. I don't know how loud Trump has to keep signaling what he's going to do for people to realize that this is a matter of life or death for millions of Americans.
When someone is telling you who they are, believe them.
Like i understand not wanting anything to do with -any- Republican after what they all collectively brought our country towards, including the Never Trumpers, but this is deadly serious and this is no longer about party lines. It's either Harris and sane, rational government under democratic rule or Trump, Project 2025 and fascism.
I don't have much choice in this matter. In fact, as a person of color, i honestly don't have a choice at all. I have to vote for Harris. That's it. I do not have the luxury or privilege to feel "alienated" by Harris rallying support from conservatives who reject Trump and MAGA.
When i see people expressing these feelings, which they have every right to, i feel like a lot of folks are quietly okay with Harris losing if things she does aren't perfect and to their 100% liking, and that scares me to death about next month.
i just gotta say, trump said a lot of crazy **** before 2016 and people acted like we needed to vote for hillary lest he implement a fascist regime and never leave office. turned out to be a relatively normal presidency except for the headlines, tweets, quotes, etc. that's not to say we shouldn't still vote against him, but i really don't buy into the fear mongering about the future of democracy when the democrats finessed a nominee that literally was not voted for. trump may be a lunatic with a loaded gun but his supporters genuinely voted for him despite his party preferring the likes of jeb, christie, cruz, etc. meanwhile bernie was actively thwarted by the democrats twice lol the real threat to democracy is letting the democrats get away with making voter will incrementally obsolete over the last 12 years imo
Not sure how you can call it a normal presidency. First days in the white house airports were shut down because of a clumsily invoked Muslim ban.
He shut down the government multiple times over things like funding his border wall which he had promised Mexico would pay for.
He gutted the State Dept worldwide until it was a skeletal organization that lost thousands of seasoned non-partisan professionals.
He gutted the EPA and removed many of the protections that keep us save from industrial waste in our water and our air.
He was impeached two times, once for blackmailing Ukraine with the threat to pull funding if they did not manufacture false evidence against his opponent Biden, the other time for incitement of insurrection.
He's a rapist.
He's a convicted felon for business fraud.
He stole state secrets and lied about it when asked to return government property.
He tried to steal an election.
He was hold Trump telethons during covid gasbagging about himself while he was sending needed medical supplies to China and Russian and failing to mount an effective plan for the pandemic.
He publicly applauded dictators while undermining our allies and NATO.
He repeatedly insulted military and veterans calling them suckers and losers.
He failed to pass any meaningful legislation even with both houses under his control other than tax cuts for the wealthy.
And that's just a sample, because this list could go on for pages.
And you call that normal?
