Prince is a very nice comparison for Honeycutt. He is extremely long and fluid which I love from the wing position and his defense is outstanding as you said. He needs to get stronger and smarter with the basketball but that should come with time.

Only knock on Honeycutt Im seeing is he can play passive, lazy, soft and lackadaisical. I would have to consider him on talent alone, especially if he could play SG, but Im not sure if we need more low motor players with Melo and Amare here. Nevertheless I like that hes a good defender and Id be cool with the pick after watching some tape.

If we find a way to get one Isiah Thomas, will that keep the other one away? We would have filled James Dolan's quota for Isiah Thomas' on the team...Its worth a shot...

I do like Isaiah Thomas and his game, just don't see the fit. Id actually love to get Abdul Gaddy whose stock right now is probably undrafted. Bad freshmen season, solid this year before the injury but I do love his game.

Meh, i really dont like Honeycutt for our pick. We need to get Kemba or Knight if they fall, if not we need to go big.

Draft express/nbadraft.net has Terrance Jones slipping to around our pick, we need to draft him if he falls. He has a ton of upside. I know he is a SF, but he can play PF in this system and would be the best pick based on talent/upside alone.

If we go big, Markief Morris/Triston Thomas/Kenneth Faried in that order. No way should we be drafting a 2 guard with our pick. Unless Alex Burcs drops to us which will not happen.

No way Jone slips that far imo, but like you said if he does you take him without thinking twice. I'd tell David stern before the team before us picks, if they dont take Jone, thats our pick. We dont need the clock.

I like Terrence Jones but I disagree in regard to Honeycutt. He can shoot the open three which we need, can handle the ball which we need and he is a very good defender which we sorely need. We can't really say which way we have to go since we got a lot of different needs other than starting SF and PF. None of the bigs you listed is really a center which we need more than just a big. Love Burks but as you said, he should be gone (likely around #10). Kemba and Knight might go even higher though actually.

I've mentioned this more than a few times I'm going to stick to it and say Jordan Hamilton would be an excellent fit for us if he is still there when we pick. He kinda reminds me of a Wilson Chandler type. He can hit the three with ease. He can put the ball on the floor and get to the hoop and finish. I think he can play the 2 or the 3. Maybe we dont need a 3 but he's a good enough fit with this team that I'd consider him with our pick. If all bigs that we really want are taken already, I'd take him get a second round pick or a late first and grab some big man project type guy or a sleeper gaurd and look for a big man in FA.

Prototypical NBA shooting guard if you ask me. Nice prospect, strong and versatile. He is kinda like the backcourt version of Chandler. He should look to shed a few pounds though, he looked a little heavy at the end of the year and not as quick and agile as earlier in his career.

A guy who I would love to see on the roster as a backup 2/3 is John Holland from Boston University. He propably will go undrafted but this kid is a talent, NBA ready body, great athlete and can get his shot off against anyone. Had a great showing against Kansas despite injury.

I'm not a fan of Hamilton at all. He has a GREAT stroke - no doubt about that but he has terrible shot selection, is sluggish in terms of typical NBA athletes and I don't think he can handle the ball or defend well at the NBA level.

Also -- NOT a Terrance Jones fan either. I see him as a classic tweener who is too small for PF position (because he doesn't do anything special (ex. rebound) and isn't talented enough in terms of scoring / shooting for a 3.

Honeycutt is intriguing -- for a thin guy he has really good length and I think he averaged +8 rbs a game and may have lead pac 10 in block shots (+2 a game - I think).

I think we need to take the best talent regardless of what we do or don't need. I think Walsh will fill out the BIG and POINT needs thru free agency or trades with veterans.

I dont know much at all about John Holland, i'll have to read up, sounds intersting. I'm always excited to hear about the guys going under the radar that can make an impact.

On hamilton, the thing about him on the Knicks is that he'll be a role player. We dont need the complete package. A sweet stroke is worth a billion bucks to the KNicks. Gallo and Chandler provided that and a little more. If hamilton can come in and knock down wide open 3's thats the extent of his offensive requirements. Amare and Melo will be taking people off the dribble and playing inside and running isos. Someone like Hamilton is a guy you want standing inthe corner waiting to get the ball wide open for the 3. He's a guy that can knock that down consistantly imo.

Defense could be an issue. Work with him. I think if the team in general is motivated to play defense all players follow suit. I think he can play solid D if he put the energy in. Nobody wants to be the weak link on the defensive end of a good defensive team, he wouldnt be any different. And if we had to we could put him on 3s too.

Well, I certainly agree with you that we dont need a star player next to Amare and Melo. But in the end we should still look to surround them with well rounded players, complete talents (which I see in Hamilton actually). We already got players who do one thing and one thing alone like knocking down an open three (Walker, Williams, Mason). But the reason these guys arent getting more minutes is that they dont pass well, they cant drive to the hoop, have almost no offensive game next to their shot. We just cant afford to have such players on the court for long periods of time since even if they hold their own on defense we suffer so much on offense (dont get me started on Jeffries). I want the kid that we draft to be multi dimensional, well rounded, skilled and versatile. He shouldnt be challenged on either side of the court. This is a reason why I dont really like Faried with our pick because I think we can get like him later and hustle forwards at 6-8 arent worth a mid first rounder, especially when we have Amare playing PF most of the time.

Yea I wasnt saying we dont want well rounded players. But I guess i was saying that Hamilton has the potential to be a well rounded player AND he already does one thing extremely well that can help the knicks right away. Amare and Melo are going to be make scoring for a guy like Hamilton alot easier, be it spot up threes or slashing to the hoop imo.

On Faried I can definetly feel you. I like the guy actually but being that we already have amare and being that he is so limited offensively he's not worth our first round pick imo. If we got him I wouldnt curse donnie because I think he'll be a good player, but at the same time I wouldnt be thrilled with what he can bring to our team right now either.

In the 2nd round, we should get a pick and draft Ben Hansbrough. I know Andy Rautins is supposed to fill that role but I think Hansbrough is better.

I wouldnt be mad at that at all. I've seen him on more than one occasion take games over. He's smart and crafty and I think he can be a really good role player on the right team given the oppurtunity in the NBA.

Just curious as to your thinking on this one. I like both players, but wasn't Hamilton essentially garbage his freshmen year? Jones was far the better player of the two considering freshmen years, carried his team for a while granted he cooled off. I think if Terrence is there on the board and we pass that would be insane given his talent. You may argue that he is a tweener, but he will be a small forward in the NBA or PF for us.

If he returns which is probably a long shot and plays with the team they have coming in, he is a sure fire top ten pick easily.

I think he is a top 10 pick this year. I think he's soley a sf in the NBA, and I think he has insane potential. This kid has superstar potential. I see him being a better player in the NBA than he is in college. I dont care his position, we'd find a way to play a kid like Jones imo.

Good chance he could fall a little once they start breaking down the tapes. It's obvious that his play faded down the stretch a little bit after his blazing start. That's also sort of why I was expecting him to have a big breakout game in the tournament to erase all those doubts, but thus far there still there. He still has one or two games to really make an impression. However if you just look at what he can do, his ability, athleticism etc he is a hard prospect to pass up. However there is also a good chance that he is the third Kentucky player off the board after Kanter and Knight.

Well being a Uconn fan I hope he doesnt have a breakout game against us tomorrow!! we need to find a way to limit him.

YEa he has flaws, but if a guy like Marvin williams can go high in a draft based on potential, i have a hard time thinking that many will pass on Jones. He could fall out of the top 10, i could see him going before Knight though, definetly not before Kanter. I think he's a preimere talent. I can just see it in him. He's going to take a little work but i think he can be a Rudy Gay type guy, and has the potential to be better than that.
