I was talking about what the Knicks got in return for him when they traded him to Golden-State. There were many Knicks fans that wanted David Lee to remain a Knick. The majority of them believed that if Lee was surrounded with better players a 12 million dollar contract for him would not have been a terrible thing for the Knicks. Remember that David Lee throughout the majority of his career played for coaches that didn't stress defense and with a great number of players that are either no longer in the NBA or being used as bench warmers right now. It is not Lee's fault that he never had the right coach or the right cast of players to surround him.
First of all, Lee was a FA and could have walked to another team, so we are lucky we got anything for him.
Second, while I agree the trade turned out pretty poorly, I could see the thinking at the time. Randolph was still considered to be a valuable prospect, and Azubuike, prior to the knee surgery, was a very solid 2-way role-player. Turiaf was decent for us, although he was not a great fit next to Amare due to his poor rebounding.
