He's very productive and a load down low but his skill set is way more limited than those other guys, he's basically a rim runner that can pass the ball.
What made Gasol and Ibaka so effective is they both could shoot 3s and block shots plus they were pretty good in all facets of defensive skills. Drummond doesn't stretch the floor the way they did and though he may be better than what the Raps have he doesn't make them better than the top teams in the east let alone the west.
While I understand about stretching the floor. Drummond cleans up the misses and wears down the bigs down low. He's just as good as Marc Gasol when it comes to passing and a much better athlete when it comes to defending.
It will put them right above Boston and close to the Bucks.
Their playoff success came from their ability to spread the floor and attack the paint and while Drummond may make them a better regular season team I don't see him as making them a better playoff team. They'd be forced to use him as a weapon to foul out other team's front courts to succeed and that might work in one series but to get to the finals that way is a tough challenge.
Nurse would have to be very good at creating an offensive game plan to score enough to get past the Nets, Sixers and Celtics while I think the Bucks would be a better matchup for them in that regard. I'm not sure they would be so good defensively they could win a 7 game series against those first 3 and may not win enough now to get a top 4 seed to avoid having to play 3 series against those top 4.
