From what I read they tried... he decided to go to LA.

But don't let the truth get in the way of your very insightful post.

Not a move we recover from -- either for the roster or for the fans. It'd be the end.

I've been a fan since '83 but even I could go no further.

If they don't match you're going to be completely unchanged once thee games start. This team will have a very strong defensive identity, win a good amount of games because of it, and New Yorkers eat that up.

Our defense wasn't our problem last year. We had no offensive cohesion and that's what ultimately killed us. A new mediocre at best PG who needs to learn the chemistry of this team will help this how?

True colors are being shown tonight.... stopping being a Knick fan after not matching a player who started 25 games and will cost us 65 million over 3 years? SMFDGH

It's a myth that player contracts are the reason prices go up. It has more to do with people going to games. Want to drop prices? Tell people to stop going to games. Oh and tell the rich people to stop spending money on those seats up front. If people buy, the prices go up.

He had to have calculated that NY would match so that Lin would get his money and keep his Madison Ave visibility which easily surpassed 4 million a year while earning him a hefty chunk of his endorsement commission.

If NY does not match Houston's offer that guy is all but fired.

Ask Portland how stellar Felton's defense was last season. I'm sure they'll tell you they "ate that" right up.

So the Knicks aren't going to be a strong defensive team next year?

Your English is fine, it's your thoughts on Felton that are baffling.

I've seen so many dumb moves from this franchise. At some point, something's gotta give.

THAT is what every one is over looking....sorry but the "stars" don't want Linsanity. The one guy who did was traded with him.

If true, it would kind of be like the Tebow situation. People not liking Lin getting all the attention and then coming out and saying so after the fact. That's exactly what happened with Tebow.

LOL, you guys remember the pressure the Heat put on themselves to win the title in Year 1? That will be nothing compared to what happens if we don't match Lin. If Lin is healthy, he will be REALLY GOOD. The team will be cursed. Forget about Lin's popularity and him being a cash cow. He galvanized a team and a fanbase here...you guys forgot Linsanity already? If we throw away the guy responsible for Linsanity, we will be cursed, I tell you. Even if we don't win a title, I can support going to WAR with Lin and the troops we assembled. You guys seriously want to go to war with Felton? The guy's been a malcontent for the past couple of years...

come on now, that's an overreaction. lin's got potential, but it's not like he's cp3 or dwill. it would suck having fatty felton back, but the roster's still solid aside from that with a bunch of really tough, tenacious players; i could see an ecf run. plus, in three years, we could start from scratch.

Given the point the team is at- so close to being a contender yet no more flexibility to get better, it would look really bad to let a player walk, and then for him to go on and continue to improve.

Plus, there are doubts about the team's bball IQ and Melo commitment to a team-oriented offense. If Lin is gone is validates everything that TKF and others have said about the rift between Woodson/Melo and Lin.

30 games?

Lin was the first player since like...the 99 team that made me cheer like a girl during games. I'm usually calm or pissed off and the dude is something else. He has the it factor. I don't want to lose that over **** Felton.

Felton =/= Peyton Manning though so I don't understand where all this ridiculous hate on Lin is coming from

People we are all being too emotional. There is no way we don't sign Lin. I myself don't see the point of Felton. But still. There is absolutely no way we don't sign Lin. After all the amazing moves Grunwald has pulled off this offseason you think he'd ruin it by letting Lin walk. There must be some bigger plain behind signing Felton. Maybe we won't be signing Prigioni after all.

That's rock solid for what I want from our starting PG.

Those stats are from 5 seasons ago.

'Rock solid' does nothing for this team. We need another dynamic talent to stand a chance against Mia, LAL, OKC -- and Lin is our only hope of that. You need players that can break down a defense off the dribble and finish to succeed in the playoffs. When you don't have that, or a dominant post presence, you're teams literally hopeless.

Do you want to see three more years of incompetent offensive sets designed around Melo pounding the rock? How about Amare dribbling into double teams? Or Felton taking ill-advised shot after ill-advised shot? No-- maybe some more Jr Smith off-balance fadeaways as the shot clock expires?

Lin showed the ability to breakdown an NBA defense off the dribble, at a level only a few players in the league can. You pay the man his fckin money, tell fat felton to take a seat on the bench, and let Linsanity run wild. Period.

Anything else is irrational--and I didn't even get into the financial side of things.

Return to New York Knicks
