From what I read they tried... he decided to go to LA.
But don't let the truth get in the way of your very insightful post.

Not a move we recover from -- either for the roster or for the fans. It'd be the end.
I've been a fan since '83 but even I could go no further.
If they don't match you're going to be completely unchanged once thee games start. This team will have a very strong defensive identity, win a good amount of games because of it, and New Yorkers eat that up.

He had to have calculated that NY would match so that Lin would get his money and keep his Madison Ave visibility which easily surpassed 4 million a year while earning him a hefty chunk of his endorsement commission.
If NY does not match Houston's offer that guy is all but fired.

Ask Portland how stellar Felton's defense was last season. I'm sure they'll tell you they "ate that" right up.

Spanish Knick fan that doesn't sleep at all, here is 7 AM in the morning, cloudy day in Santander.
I'm sorry for my english, is terrible, it's been a while since the last time I was abroad and could practice properly.

THAT is what every one is over looking....sorry but the "stars" don't want Linsanity. The one guy who did was traded with him.

come on now, that's an overreaction. lin's got potential, but it's not like he's cp3 or dwill. it would suck having fatty felton back, but the roster's still solid aside from that with a bunch of really tough, tenacious players; i could see an ecf run. plus, in three years, we could start from scratch.

If true, it would kind of be like the Tebow situation. People not liking Lin getting all the attention and then coming out and saying so after the fact. That's exactly what happened with Tebow.

Lin was the first player since like...the 99 team that made me cheer like a girl during games. I'm usually calm or pissed off and the dude is something else. He has the it factor. I don't want to lose that over **** Felton.

Our defense wasn't our problem last year. We had no offensive cohesion and that's what ultimately killed us. A new mediocre at best PG who needs to learn the chemistry of this team will help this how?

That's rock solid for what I want from our starting PG.
Those stats are from 5 seasons ago.
