I doubt they take KAT + Hart but I guess it all depends on who the 3rd and 4th teams are and what they want. Bucks have to end up with some young players, a load of picks, and salary relief.

KAT and OG? Wow..... :noway:

It would hurt so much to let Hart go. He is a culture setter for this team and the combination of him and Brunson is the embodiment of this current Knicks run for the last few years. They are the Knicks more than any other player right now. Of course for Giannis but it would truly suck. Would be the final icing on that colossal KAT mistage Leon made...

Awesome game from the NOVA boys today... the team is still way to small on the perimeter without OG...
Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things. And no good thing ever dies...

And they were terrible the rest of 23-24, as well as the tanking year last year. Two seasons of terrible ball to watch. Yes they've done a nice job of rebuilding this year, but it's early to call them #2. And we'll see where they end up and where their ceiling is

The Raps are # 2 right now.... They've won 9 in a row and are 13 of their last 14. until that changes, you can't take that away from them. They're #2 in the east....

Really, OG is not doing anything miraculous.......it's why he isn't an All Star, All NBA defense, or getting DPOY or MVP votes etc. The Raptors readily traded him.

Why they traded him is irrelevant....The point is that they readily traded him for a bare minimum trade package. He is not a superstar. He's a 3&D role player which is just what we need. So I feel we can find another 3&D role player similar to him to add to the roster and give us a championship level defense.

I agree with getting another defensive wing, but how? I think Mitch is too much to give, because Hukporti isn't ready. As I posted elsewhere the killer is we did sign a big wing, albeit not a defender, but he's a non productive bust

True, I like Mitch but I don't trust his health or free throw shooting during a finals run, and I don't trust his next contract.

We were 41-24 without Mitch last season. We were running guys like Sims or Precious or who we as the backup C.

Mitch is a helpful player, homegrown and all, but based on this team's makeup, a wing who can get defensive stops would raise this team's ceiling further than Mitch.

spree2kawhi wrote:This was a terrible win. For the record, I’d absolutely trade Towns if someone found a tangible upgrade around the league. Let me know who you got. He can be so frustrating to watch. But at the same time, he is such a great passer, so at least that’ll always be there.

Far from it for me to be a voice of positivity or restraint, but it's tough to get 5 players at all positions who don't have some kind of fault.

KAT is a very good offensive player who isn't that good on defense.
Which would be ok like others say but his offense will disappear at times.

Roping in some of the other "trade KAT" comments to include my own.
If it's for Giannis, Giannis has to play the 5. Because OG would be the 4.
Giannis doesn't like to play the 5.
Giannis does best with a C who shoots the 3.
That's KAT.
I guess the Knicks could get by with the 1-4 spacing for Giannis but the best model for him has been Brook or a guy like Turner.

Moving on to something like KAT for Herb Jones or Murphy, the Knicks would have to take on like Zion or Jordan Poole or Murray as well.
(I know, the trade is usually Mitch for Herb)
Where would Poole or Murray play? Would you even want them as Knicks?
And then the Knicks would have a C rotation of Hukporti/Mitch/Yabu/?

KAT is frustrating and has looked uneven, but in the pregrame Brown was quoting as saying "I've asked KAT to do a lot" in the offense.

They emphasized more 3s early, somewhat different actions, now they are integrating more P&R plays in etc, so maybe KAT isn't totally comfortable yet.

Knicks have played 18 games? It's around the time stuff comes together. On the other hand, in another 15 games is around the time the league scouts what a team is doing and has the book on how to adjust.
That's why the Knicks offense looked great under Thibs before the AS break and not so good after.

I'm not sure I completely trust Brown yet to adjust to when the league adjusts only because this offense seems to be able to be shut down when the other team locks in - either for entire games or for quarters at a time - like the 4th yesterday where the Knicks couldn't buy a bucket for a long while.

Anyway, maybe KAT looks better in 10 games, more fully integrated into the offense.
In any event, it's really hard to trade him for anyone other than another expensive star straight up, and even Giannis comes with issues.

Would be interesting if the Knicks flipped KAT and Yabu for Giannis and Broke Lopez in two separate trades and recreated a more elderly version of Bucks 'chip team

Is this a KAT trade proposal?

Yes. I'm over it.

KAT for Giannis
Mitch for Herb Jones (salaries don't match who cares don't come at me)
Yabu, Dadiet for Brooke Lopez, Rights to 49 year old European Asst Coach

I want to see Brown move Yabu out of the corner first. But I agree, he’s been borderline unplayable.

Speaking of Brown and his coaching, Towns has been great off the dribble this year. Maybe Brunson and KAT need to swap roles in the pick and role sometimes. The warriors do that with Curry screening for Butler, and it is basically unguardable.

OG is an elite role player and perfect for us. We need another similar wing player on the roster to contend.

OG is not a superstar, has never been an All-Star, he's made one All-NBA defensive team in 9 years of his career.

This, He's a role player ...and despite his outstanding efficiency (because of the gravity of actual stars), If Brunson and KAT went down, the Knicks would not win games with OG as the first option.

He is a role player. An elite one, but a role player nevertheless. His role is 3&D.

OG was the first option? I am pretty sure the Knicks still had this....you know...multi-year All-NBA, multi-year All-Star named KAT on the roster taking darn near 20 shots per game when Brunson went down.

Anyway....I'm saying we need TWO players like OG to contend, because another long 3&D wing would instantly give us the tools to have a championship-level defense. Melo says we need to get rid of KAT, not have two of them. So no, sir...you don't get it.

However....because of who was sent out in the OG trade, OG is to you what KAT is to those who wanted Randle gone. I get it...

Yes. The way this roster is constructed, OG's skill set is inavluable. What he brings to this team means the difference between a championship and going fishing in Cancún.

We need another long 3&D wing in his mold who can do at least 70% of what OG does. Preferably under 30 years old. I think Mitch is the best trade piece because he misses so many games that the team is adapting to playing without him. We still had a great record last season before he returned.

These young, long, athletic teams will give us big problems in the playoffs if we don't get such a guy to play alongside OG at times, and be on the court when OG rests. And without such a player I doubt we stand a chance against the Thunder. Defense wins championships.

Based on what I just saw he is not happy.

I'm willing to sacrifice OG and KAT for him. I love OG to death and I don't want to lose him, but at this point if we get Giannis, OG becomes redundant.

Then the problem shifts to spacing. A line up of Brunson/Deuce/Mikal/Giannis needs a big that can space. Not too many of those available unless we play Giannis at C, which i don't know if he's even remotely interested in.

I think if we get Giannis though, the combination of Brunson/Giannis will be unstoppable. But we can't give up anything more than OG/KAT.

Maybe we can get Brook Lopez from LA for peanuts. I dunno. But I just don't trust Karl at this point. Maybe I'm overreacting but I expected to see him punishing the Bucks and he gave us a weak 9 pts and a 0 +/-. Him and Yabu were the worst players on the floor. I don't think he's a fit here.

Absolutely want giannis. At the end of the day this is a star’s league. If giannis still wants the Knicks then you best believe he’ll be a Knick. KAT + Hart works or we can do KAT + Mikal. Either way a trio of Brunson, OG and Giannis is pretty much unstoppable.

See my post above, let me know what you think. I say we keep Josh/Mikal (keeps Brunson happy), let OG and KAT go for Giannis. Elevate Deuce to starting SG, Giannis plays 4 and defends the best front court match up.
