Wonder if something around Dadiet + Tucker for Mark Williams could have some legs this summer. Between Robinson and Williams, one of them should be healthy for any given game lol

McBride for Ware seems like it could be interesting for both also. McBride would be a perfect partner for Herro in the backcourt, and Jovic could start next to Bam if they don't draft a big. We could replace the spark Deuce gave us off the bench by going big and moving Hart to the 2nd unit, with Kolek/Payne & Shamet/Wright backfilling the backup guard minutes.

Brunson: So what are you paid to do?

Homer view, but I genuinely think Huk has more upside than Mark Williams

Williams or Ware are intriguing but unnecessary with Hukporti here and healthy to go next season.

I would like to add a 3/4 3&D player to the bench who has Thibs’s trust.

The basketball in me wants OKC to trade iHart and matching contracts/assets for Durant and then trade picks for WK and just be the evil super team for two years. Bring back Russ on a small contract

If the price for Ware was just Duce you do it in a heartbeat. Ware is a 7 footer who can stretch the floor and protect the rim - allowing us to play 5 out with KAT while still having rim protection. Miami just isn’t close enough to competing to trade upside for fit even if Duce is the ideal 3 and D type of point guard to pair with Herro. Knowing the way Heat organization thinks, they feel they can develop a Duce level player and their track record supports it.

Williams is intriguing, but I don’t see a path forward there. Mainly, it’s going to be hard to fit his $6mm number under the 2nd apron without trading one of the top-7. On top of that, given the lack of center depth in the marketplace, someone will likely offer something more attractive than Pacome and the protected WAS 1st.

The bigger solution for this team doesn't need to be another mega trade. The solution is the light bulb turning on for Tom not to crush his players with so many minutes. Period.

And is this a blind spot for Rose too?

I hope the Knicks make some peripheral trades to tweak the bottom 9 spots of the roster so Thibs has a new collection of players he'll never play.

The most likely outcome is:
A) 8th man type acquired with the taxpayer MLE
B) trading for a high 2nd rd pick
C) potentially flipping Dadiet for a higher floor guy closer to RFA - maybe a guy like Can Whitmore

I don’t see Thibs losing his job this summer, even if they lose in a blowout series against Boston in round 2. But his seat will be very hot heading into next year.

Also - if teams call about Bridges or Anunoby, I think NY will listen but the price will be high.

You're asking an old man to change his tunes especially one that has a huge ego? Last time this happened was Tom Coughlin and they won the SB.

Or Thibs the past 4 years before this one…

Miami would have to draft a big to go with Bam & Jovic, making Ware expendable, and we’d have to add to deuce unless he just kills it this postseason.

Williams would essentially be our tpMLE addition. So we’d be looking at something like

Brunson / Kolek
Bridges / McBride
Anunoby / Hart
Towns / Achiuwa (if he’ll take a pay cut)
Robinson / Williams
+ SRP, Wright/Shamet, McCullar, Hukporti

I think it's more likely that we dump Dadiet using a second round to open a roster spot

I could see dumping Dadiet but don’t see needing to add a 2nd. We knew he was going to be a development prospect.

It’s unfortunate that we threw away a draft pick on the heels of overpaying for Bridges.

I like Whitmore as a trade target I just don't think we have enough. I would expect the rockets to want at least a protected first rounder

The Heat aren't trading Ware for Deuce

If they were to trade Ware he's going out for an all-star.

The Knicks should keep Wright and go all out to get a PF this summer. I really think regardless if they continue to play 5 out or if they go double bigs with KAT/Mitch…. A good 3&D PF fixes so many of the roster’s issues.

The mind blowing part is the entire world seems to clearly know the issue with the team except two people that matter the most: Tom Thibodeau and Leon Rose.

It feels like the spotlight has been put so much on the minutes this year to the point that maybe just MAYBE we will see enough of an adjustment from Tom that we might have better playoff success.

This is obviously a hope because he is about as blind to this issue as it gets.

I hope they publish stories like this daily until somehow it sinks in ....either move on from Tom or he has to make an adjustment well within his power todo so:

https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/44221755/tom-thibodeau-heavy-minute-knicks-again

This team when healthy literally has 5 guys who are with enough veteran experience and/or playoff battle tested to play solid bench minutes throughout the game.

Bench:
1.Delon Wright 20+ minutes a game, has quickly proven an excellent fit here and is almost exactly the perfect complement to Brunson as a 1 as all of Brunson's weaknesses are his strenghts, height, defense etc Can guard the 1 or 2.
2.Mitchell Robinson 20-22 minutes a game, we know what Mitch brings toa Thibodeau defense and he is a perfect compliment to KAT
3. McBride, 15-20 minutes, he is a gamer but now we have a glut at guard and he cant ball handle like Wright
4. Achiuwa, 10-15 minutes not many true PFs on this team and he can spell OG
5. Payne 10-15 minutes, pushed down a rung due to Wrights emergence. Thibs we all know prefers size on the court.

If Thibs plays these 5 close to the minutes suggested above this team has a good chance to maintain fresh legs in the playoffs to at least have a chance vs Celts and Cavs.
