wow - this is amazing
hard work that really shows.
thank you!!!
Several interesting questions are raised
1} this seems to be the ultimate system for role players. as Phil has said it opens up play for guys who need some help. But also setting rules and behaviors is something lesser players are more willing to do. Question: will stars and people who think they are stars (Melo, Smith, Amare, THjr) stick to the system or think they are better than it? Im hopeful. Its good enough for 11 of the last 22 championship teams so ...
2} It seems to me that this might be the kind of system that excites everyone on the floor because everyone is involved, as if on a string connected to each other. So often in basketball people stand around and watch or feel uninvolved when they don't touch the ball. Our old Riley led knicks teams had 3 pass rules - can't shoot until 3 people touch the ball - and things like that to get everyone involved. Question: Does this team involvement lead to players feeling the need to shoot less as they are involved more in the offense / being more motivated on defense since they are involved more in the offense?
3} Systems and rules. A lot of people hate them. Players however often seem to love them. Technique is major. I wonder if the challenge and the system will be its own appeal to certain guys and they will throw themselves into the passing and moving side of the game even if it hasn't been their skill before. Question: Could Amare and Bargs really love this system even if it means more floor reading, passing, screening and cutting before they get a shot? In the past Amare would be frustrated if he didn't get plays called for him and Bargs often was asleep on the floor unless you force feed him into the offense early so he gets a little aggressive.
Cant wait to see this system implemented with the real guys.
It seems like a system built around creating chemistry as well
