Brooklyn Nets give Ben Simmons a buyout and Knicks bring him in after clearing waivers. 8-)

The New York Knicks are unable to sign Ben Simmons because they are a first-apron team, which prohibits them from signing buyout players who earn more than the mid-level exception

would you deal Bridges and Mitch for Ingram and a filler (Jones, Missi or Theiss)?

Not sure. Ingram brings lots of secondary creation but not much defense. Still might be worth it

Tre Murphy or Deni are great targets but hard to get unless their agents demand a trade.

I’d give up Kolek, Dadiet, Rokas, WAS 1st, future pick swap, and four 2nd rounders for Tre Murphy.

Question: The new CBA would not apply to a waved, non-buy out Ben Simmons?

waived/buyout same thing for this rule. basically anyone who becomes a free agent who earned more than the MLE cannot sign with teams in the apron.

This applies to both buyouts and standard waivers, so regardless of whether or not the player agreed to give up any money as part of his release, he’s ineligible to sign with an apron team if he had been earning more than $12,405,000.

No. I wouldn’t make any major moves.

Looked into Cam Whitmore. He has Brandon Roy knees. Unfortunately, he won’t have a long career. He can be had for Sims. I would still pull the trigger for him.

Utah rested Kessler tonight, literally DNP-rest. What are they resting him for?

Isn't Deni kind of like Bridges? He's really good all around and I think he would fit, but for the cost, would he really elevate bench scoring?

Still, he can play the 3 and the 4 and still has some 2 skills, so would be nice. The cost would be Mitch, so not sure. And Portland probably doesn't do it.

They were trying to collect the loss vs the Nets but they won, which I'll assume they considered an unfortunate turn of events.

Our defense sucks. This deal would make it even worse.

Just curious…..is to “claim” a player off the waiver wire….or to sign him once he has been waived?

We should be looking at guys like Deandre Hunter, Tre Murphy III, or Deni (POR).... doubt either of those 3 are available but guys like that. 2-way, tall-ish 3&D dudes with upside who can give you 30 mins off the bench or who could push Hart to the bench and start next to OG. I'd pay a good price for that.

We should be looking at guys that fit the description of guys we probably can't get. Who would that be?
