Sideshow, Wiggins and one of (Thompson, Bennet, Waiters) for Melo, Smith .... then they can sign LeBron outright.... done and done....

Hyperbole is a last resort. Surely you know what.

Can you just acknowledge NOT having a 2016 draft pick is a major impediment to a rebuild through the draft plan.

Anyone confident should be able to answer than question directly without trying to qualify it with hyperbole.

This coming from the person who said we can't rebuild because we don't have a 2016 pick...but also says draft picks, the lottery pick of MCD, and young prospects like Mirotic are sh*t.

Really?

You can't answer a fair, direct question and you now you're making things up?

Is this serious? You asked if we can rebuild without the 2016 pick. And I said yes. Pages back already.

Not completely telling the whole story unless you think Melo is planning on retiring in 4 years if he signs with Chicago.

No but I hope he's planning on being 34 in 4 years. I think he will opt out after 3 if he's playing well and healthy. But a guaranteed contract is insurance and security. Years 4 and 5 will be 55 mil of money in the bank.

Someone tell if me the Knicks have a 2016 first round draft pick.

Keep in mind Marc Gasol is 9 months younger than Melo and had ankle problems last year.

After that, tell me how much closer the NY Knicks are to a title?

Pretty close after surrounding Melo with all these winners:

Phil Jackson = self-explanatory
Derek Fisher = self-explanatory
Kurt Rambis = self-explanatory
Calderon = Silver Medal
M. Gasol = Silver Medeal
P. Gasol = NBA Champion
Odom = NBA Champion

So apparently we have unlimited cap space? This plan works if Melo takes a paycut. Our discussion revolves around him taking the max with raises.

Paycut= tipping point.

No 2016 draft pick - 'eh, no big deal'.

Okay then.

I agree. What's with this code of silence. Would it be possible Phil told them to make no statement if they are working on other deals that would be part of a re-signed Melo?

I think it has to do with Melo's personal code of conduct more than anything else. He actually created a video about it called "Stop Snitching."

Given the McRoberts and Granger signings, they would have to take steep paycuts to fit Carmelo and would then not be able to add-on anyone else.

Why are people in a hurry here, none of these dudes have signed, why must Melo make decision first, Im sure this is a big decision for him, free agency period just began a couple of days ago.

I didn't ask you if you can. I asked you if it's a major impediment or not?

Yes or no?

Why would we be contacting teams to trade Amare to if Melo was leaving? The only possible reason to trade Amare and give up an asset in doing so is to build a team around Melo now. Otherwise, we would just wait until Bargs/Amare come off the books next year and not give up any assets to grab a Pau Gasol or Pau Gasol type this summer.

well yes., melo taking a significant pay cut would be a lot more important than the 2016 pick. that seems pretty evident.

Cliff notes on what went down in this thread since this morning? No way in hell I'm reading 30+ pages if something major didn't happen.

What if the Knicks are holding everything up. What if we're looking to get rid of Amare and Bargs to sign Melo and Lebron. You know what I need to take a break from all this anticipation... BUT I CANT!!

I definitely disagree with the idea that we can't do a traditional rebuild because we lack a 2016 pick. 1 pick is not make or break to that strategy working. If you got the top pick in the draft in 2015 and there's a surefire stud available, you'd be well on your way.

The fact that picks are hard to turn into great players kind of weighs against suicide's argument. 1 pick is not a huge piece of the overall puzzle.

Well it hasn't happened yet, everything's still up in the air so thus why people are allowed to panic. If an official move like this is made, then we of course have reason to celebrate.
