Shump's value was letting Cleveland take JR off our hands.

Shump will be a FA so they have a chance to get him back at least

Nope. At least a year off the team.

Shump is nothing. I'm sorry it's true, second rounder at best for him. He is possibly the worst shooter for a starting sg.

Shump did prove to have value. His value was enough that some team was willing to pay JR Smith $6.5MM next year in order to get him.

Let's say we were willing to attached our 2nd round pick to a trade in order to dump JR, and let's say that would be enough for some team to bite. Obviously, we would rather have that early 2nd rounder than Shumpert, who is not in our plans.

If JR opted in and clogged up our space next year, that could have been really bad.

but OKC isn't getting waiters for 3 players the knicks are just going to waive.

something still is missing in this deal.

a pick from OKC. OKC isn't getting waiters for nothing.

I hate that this franchise always has to be in a position to trade value just to get rid of garbage because of the terrible contracts they give to terrible players.

I still remember praising the re-signing of JR 2 years ago. Ugh...
