Thibs ran him into ground. He's the Knicks' Deng.

I don't think he ran his shot into the ground. What happened to the Hart shooting in that video?

I'd figure legs and every other body parts have some effect on shooting. Thibs turned Hart into an NBA 39 year old.

We still don't have a game thread for tonight's game.

I saw Tommy Beer's post about how many wide open looks were generated against Miami which confirmed my eye test. The offense worked as intended, we just were off.

Onto Milwaukee

I just dont understand how stuff like this happens. It must be mental.

I mean, right now its his crooked finger thats hanging sideways on his shooting hand. that much is pretty obvious. But he had years where he shot very respectable percentage from three 37,38 almost 40 in his rookie year. Josh Hart all of a sudden apparently forgot how to shoot. last year shot 31% and no one defends him anymore on the perimeter. now hes in his head everytime he catches the ball. and it looks really awful.

its frustrating.

Yea it was a pretty typical Kat game if he shot better. Lost on defense at times, some dumb fouls etc but if made one of his misses from 3 and makes 1 or 2 more of his drives it's an 8 or 9/14 night with 20+/18.

People that constantly complain about what he is don't make sense to me. Everyone should know his flaws by now.

100% mental. He's even alluded to things on the podcast (not that I listen) - one time he said something about how he always plays bad in Dallas. And going into it he knows he's going to have a bad game - and then does. Which is 100% mental. He prob gets in his head about shooting too obviously. It's almost worst as a player if you're left open - there is more pressure to not miss. If you shoot a tough/contested shot - it's acceptable to miss. Last year he was almost exclusively guarded by the other team's center or worst defender. That must feel insulting - and then to not be able to make them pay for it... hope he can turn it around.

Hart is a career 34.1% 3 point shooter. He has shot 39.6, 33.6, 34.2, 32.6, 34.3, 37.2, 31.0 and 33.3% last year. The rookie year just seems to be an outlier. His second best season of 37.2% came with him shooting 51.9% on low volume for the Knicks for 25 games after being traded.

His percentage of attempts that are 3's is lower than earlier in his career but i'm not sure if we should want a 33-34% shooter taking more 3's anyway. I have been critical of Hart not shooting when he is open but he hasn't even shot good percentages while being left unguarded.

i mean, i didnt say hes a lightsout sniper. he was an average shooter. as far as i know when you shoot around 35% thats average. And its not super out of the ordinary to fluctuate up and down a couple % points.

My point was about how hes in his head and can do at least average from three. It would demand some defense and needs to be fixed because he is evidently capable of doing way better

His average in year 1? 39.6%. His average in year 2? 33.6%. His average from year 2 to year 8? 33.6%. His average last year in year 8? 33.3%
He has been pretty consistently below average from 3.

It seems like the real question is "How the hell did he ever shoot 39.6%?" :D

This conversation started after a clip of him with the Blazers. He had like a hot 10 game stretch individually after they traded for him before he missed the rest of the season but Blazers' fans had the same complaints about his shooting as we do when he was traded to New York a year later. I don't know if those short little stretches are an actual indicator of who he could be full time.
