Also, using both of your challenges in the first half is playing yourself, no matter how it's sliced.

even the way he calls for a challenge pisses me off.

Hate his mannerisms

He's like a spoiled little kid who's an NBA coach

I almost wrote that exact sentence but erased because Precious is a different sort of big than those two. It gives a different look. But I agree in principle and he's a good PnR defender who is switchable.

Do you think Precious was just a throw in last year, or did anyone in the organization suspect what he could contribute?

They kept him around after the deadline and brought him back this year. Hopefully they saw something in him.

I think OG has that Men In Black neuralyzer, and used it on us to make us forget all about RJ. Or, he's just that good!

For sure.

What he doesn't do is block a lot of shots and his help defense is limited. But damn. He's a beast and that surprised me as well. He's definitely not soft.

he did block a taller Embiid's shot :D
I'm reserving my judgement on his block and help defense until Brunson figures the chemistry out...I think there will be more
Kat surprises as the season progresses Cap...

there was a sequence early in the game where kat had embiid isolated on him and tried to get in his kd crossover back alil bit…

up until last year's play-offs- I would just watch highlights and just look at his salary and think- I hope the Knicks dont
trade for him.
Once I saw him play game after game in the play-offs - I knew I made a terrible mistake
But Cap...what I have seen so far is a ferocious -relentless- animal...I didnt expect this "has it" elite level.
That play- among so many others is why Kat is certified for me and he's on my ride or die Knick list.
Congrats on pairing him with Shai in BAF btw...

OK, so if Mike Tyson wins his Netflix bout, I want to see KAT knock him out with his famous head butt!

that we should start mitch.

why?

zoomed-out reasoning:

1/ we have a top 2 offense, and a ranked 20th defense
2/ takes defensive pressure off kat to start the game. allows us to become more un-predictable with our defensive coverages in the 1-5 pnr.
3/ takes foul pressure off kat to start the game
4/ gives better bench balance by sliding josh hart to bench. he will still play 30+ minutes

zoomed-in reasoning:

1/ we've got to get the most out of the 20 minutes from mitch. does that mean we play him with the bench or the starters? where will we get more production out of him?
2/ we need to be able to play mitch with the starters, because in the playoffs (more half court sets) we are going to end the game with mitch on the court in the 4th quarter. he needs to play with the starters.
3/ we already know KAT at the 4 works.
4/ this is not us running away from 5 out. it means we are going to play 5 out less.

After watching Indiana how do you imagine the Knicks would defend them with their style of play and 2 centers in KAT and Mitch on the court? Mitch at his best is a far better defender than KAT but I feel like I remember the Knicks struggling with teams with stretch 5's like the Celtics and Bucks last year with Mitch healthy. The defensive personnel should be better on paper this year on the perimeter in comparison to the beginning of last year so hopefully there will be less breakdowns to cover but how do you imagine 2 true bigs would matchup with Indiana's pace, spacing and ball movement?

Mitch can cover the paint with KAT out on the perimeter switching with OG/Bridges if necessary. Counting on Mitch right now is almost not worth the keystrokes but, you asked.

I would be happy getting Precious back and rolling with him in the starting 5 in the meantime. Stagger him and KAT with the bench and we should be fine. Sims gotta go.

It wasn't really a foul on KAT. Maybe the first headbutt but not the second.

He was spinning away from Embiitch when Oubre tried to tackle him. None of it was a foul on his part. The review showed as much. The refs were awful last night. Listening to SVG slobber their knobs was annoying. He's a male version of Doris Burke! Awful.

Haven't watched the Raptors play at all outside of when we play them. RJ/IQ for OG/Precious was a lopsided trade.

That trade hasn't looked close in almost a year. OG and Precious both came in and helped us advance to the 2 seed and a game away from the ECF. Toronto tanked.

Didn't we send Malachi Flynn out in the Bogs trade also? That helped us get Bridges. The trade the keeps on giving.

Leon has been almost perfect if not better in every trade he has made or passed up. We just need to fortify the roster we have and we can celebrate with a parade!

This pass from KAT for a 7 footer is just unbelievable. His court sense and the fact that he doesn't have blinders on when he has the ball is a huge change of scenery from his predecessor. We got ourselves a true baller with high BBIQ.

I think it should be situationally and based on who we're playing, especially since Hart is now the secondary creator in the starting 5. You remove him from the lineup and we are much easier to defend because there's no push in transition off his rebounds and you lose the hub passer from the top of the 3 point line. He's being used a lot more like Draymond now.

A more progressive coach would look at who we're playing, their strengths and weaknesses and start Hart or Mitch/Precious based on that.
