I feel like you can't complain about KAT underperforming in the playoffs if you're mad we traded away the guy who has the worst FG% in the playoffs since the Truman administration.

Again talking about Randle to attempt to justify the trade.

Donte averaged 22.7 ppg with 4.4 3pm a game at 46% against the Pacers.

KAT's career high for a single playoff series is 21.8 ppg with 1.7 3pm at 46%.

So we downgraded without even mentioning Jules but ight.

Blows my mind that people are still ignoring the fact that we very likely take the celtics 6 or 7 if we just have OG out there. Bottom line is that we traded away all our depth and picks for pieces we didn't really NEED. All we NEEDED was a center replacement for iHart after he left us for OKC and a secondary PG to facilitate things while Brunson rests

We didn't NEED mikal and we definitely didn't NEED kat. We were already a top 3 team in the league as is.

This is my feeling. I think we got too clever and also too bland. You're putting a lot on the shoulders of a 5'11 guy.

The GogaWagon is bigger than I ever imagined.

KAT is bland and doesn't really have wiggle. We're assuming that people will send double teams at Jalen. I think they just put a tall defender on him and make him score tpugh baskets.

Nobody else needs a double team at all. Juliua required a double inside and that opened up a lot of people. Five out has been countered by people staying home. Boston's 5 out works because Jaylen and Tatum are big and have wiggle.

All this, except for the 'soft' part which I'd argue Randle is pretty 'soft' in his own right, mentality wise anyways, applies to Randle 10x more than Towns though.

At least Towns will try on defense, he won't just lazily walk around out there and then when the opponent scores shrug his shoulders or stare down his teammates like its their fault.

KAT played great this post season until Dallas as well. He was huge for them against the Nuggets.

Man please stop comparing him to Randle... We been through this already outside of Melo nobody here hates this trade because they like Randle.

So my point was those points all apply to Randle too, so its a moot point.

I think some of the negative feedback on this move is that the Knicks were so easy to love last season with how hard they played and wouldn't die, then added the final Novaboy so when they traded one of them away while brining in a guy who many view as a fake superstar the kneejerk reaction is to go back to the lolknicks attitude that was too easy to ride for a very long time.

I'm not sure that is definitively true.

Per bball-ref he played 100% of his minutes at C in 2017-18 where they made the playoffs and led the West for a chunk of the season. Same in 2021-22 where they also made the playoffs.

Of course Minnesota's defense and record would be better by trading picks for Gobert. He's one of the best rim protectors in NBA history.

Lack of talent and poor management explained Minnesota's mediocrity to a large degree. Moreso than which position KAT played imo.

They never got past the first round with KAT at C. Their defensive ratings were in the lower end of the league when he played C. These aren’t good signs man.

What was their talent for all these years?

They didn't have Anthony Edwards or Rudy Gobert. Jimmy Butler got hurt in his only full season with the team. Otherwise their second-best player was Andrew Wiggins who was RJ Barretting his way to 20 ppg before going to Golden State, where he only gave a speck of effort for one season. D'Angelo Russell? A young Zach Lavine?

I agree that the defense will suffer with him playing the 5 but the offense will benefit greatly.

I guess we will see but I think Minnesota's lack of success had more to do with a general lack of talent than any positional issues with KAT. They were 3rd in the West when Butler got hurt before the playoffs, and KAT was playing the 5 then. I think a lot of Minnesota's issues were contextual. Think who they even traded Butler for - Saric, Bayless and Covington lol.

The Timberwolves had a much better net rating with KAT off the court even in the 2024 playoffs. Doesn’t really sound promising especially when he got benched a decent amount of times because Naz Reid was better.

i always do find it strange how people talk about players beyond what they do the court though. i don't like kat as a player but i'm not mad at him as a person. seems like a nice kid. that's weirdo behavior to me. i don't know these motherf*ckers to be mad at them like that
