Between Pacome, Kolek, Diawara, McCullar, Tosan and Huk, one of them becoming a roleplayer off the bench would do wonders for us in the short & long term.

I missed the 2nd half. Did Diawara and Huk look okay?

They ran the floor like their lives depended on it. Diawara had one horrible missed three, then a make from the corner. Huk was hustling and brought energy.


Of the young guys, McCullar and Tosan played the best, then Diawara and Huk.

Huk also brought that floater...and it looks very legit.

I don’t see that he’s taken a leap since last season. Also Tosan was a standout, as you said.i want to see if Brogdan has enough left to keep him. Carlson impressed me by his willingness to dish off on his drive. That’s very important even if he’s a good shooter. And Mathew’s looks good from 3.

The problem is the team apparently has seen things about Dadiet they like, but Kolek not so much. OTOH, trading Dadiet would give them more cap space than trading Kolek. I’m not sure there’s much of an upside to Kolek.

We’ve gone from a team that couldn’t get good players to a team that doesn’t have the cap space to sign all the players who want to be here. All things considered, it’s a better problem to have.

I don't think you're wrong at all.

We saw that he couldn't play at a high level in SL. That was a huge red flag. He's not playing over any of the other guards on the roster. It's unfortunate but I think Kolek's time is up.

I don't think you're wrong at all.

I was very disappointed to see his game hasn't improved. We don't need a guy who plays at that level and doesn't show the potential for more. The only downside is he won't fetch much, if anything, in a trade.

I'll ease up on Dadiet a bit.

He's a project. He was the youngest player drafted a year ago, I think.
He was always a guy who was 3 years away minimum from the day he was drafted maybe even 4.

Kolek they took a swing on. I'm not even 100% sure he hasn't improved from last year. Summer league wasn't a good look but MAYBE he was trying to adjust to the new system. In some ways he looks a little stronger and looks like he can take some more contact on drives, in other ways we don't see the shot falling just yet and defense will probably always be an issue.

Then again, Deuce didn't look good for two years and then he did. Might be the case for Dadiet or even Kolek.

I was giving McCullar(s) a hard time but he's flashed. He seems "ok".

McCullar will be in Westchester again. Same with Diawara even if he gets that rookie deal that is the last thing the Knicks can afford.

I don't think it's a bad thing the Knicks have some youth in the pipeline they are trying to develop:

Huk
Diawara
McCullar(s)
Dadiet
Kolek

Kolek seems like the obvious piece to move if a team was interested because the Knicks are looking to carry at least 4 PG style players: Brunson, Brogdon, Clarkson, Deuce. Sure, Deuce and Clarkson kind of combo SG, but still.

Health concerns aside, Brogdon fits more what the Knicks need, another reliable initiator, creator, can score some type of player for the 2nd unit.
I get that Shamet is a good and willing defender, not sure it's worth losing Dadiet for that but I'll trust the Knicks FO if they think they can move on from Dadiet.

Height aside, if you think in terms of developmental wings, Knicks have Dadiet, Diawara and McCullar(s)

They could deal Dadiet and still have some youth depth, if having Shamet is that important to them.

I guess the run of injuries the Knicks have had in the playoffs - everyone two years ago, Hart being reduced against Indiana, have the FO determined to not run into that again and they want both Brogdon AND Shamet.
