Thats one hell of a a task from a mental standpoint, from a game standpoint he'd probably excel.

He'd only excel when the games didn't mean anything.

Nothing a little hypnosis cant fix.

But seriously though, i dont see a team even wanting him, so keeping him is already forgone conclusion.

But when he opts out...renounce.

Why would you laugh? That bum ass scrub is under contract and no other team wants him.

You know what's funny though? That you tried to perpetrate Smith was a better basketball player than Aaron Aflalo... That was some funny Ish.

You going to test my memory partner? Do you really want to do that?

How much faith do you have in your ability to remember all the garbage about JR Smith that comes out of your mouth? Because I know for damn sure my memory is almost bulletproof. I'll go scour down the exact posts when I get back if you want me to. There were a gang of you JR groupies that all agreed that Smith was better than Aflalo when I said I would take Aflalo over Smith.

It goes back to priorities.. I would like Phil to focus on other things other than trying to rehabilitate players when there are players that don't need any rehabilitating that would be more than willing to play for us.

Do it. Find the thread, find my quotes. I stopped defending him, or making comparisons to other players, many moons ago. While I do root for, JR..."groupie" is probably too strong a word.

If anyone can get JR to do it, it will be Phil Jackson. I'm sure him and Phil will get some good convos in over that off season hashish. I think JR has all the tools to be a great 2 way player as I'm sure you have all seen. JR has had some great moments here and having a system in place will make every single player that much better. I don't think if would be unfair of the Knicks to offer JR one last shot to buy in to team ball.

No dispute here, the only issue is JR is here and not likely to be dealt.

I cant see Phil doing the rehab himself, but rather the supporting cast of assistant coaches.

If Derek Harper or Fisher for instance was on the staff, I could see either taking that time to get his mental to be serviceable enough to get his game in the range of good enough.

it's only for one year if he opts out, and renounce is always an option at that point, but I agree on finding guys who dont need what JR does, and that is a win in itself because it equals less JR.

Well, if you consider the off-the-cuff remarks I drop in all the threads about, JR...defending him, I guess I never stopped doing that. 8-)

But engaging other posters directly, about him...long time. It's a losing battle, and I don't go in for arguing on a message board.

I also don't recall, me personally, comparing him to, AA.

Even if JR can improve under Phil, I think there are bigger needs that we might not be able to address if he is soaking up $6m in cap space:

1) Center who can pass out of the post and protect the rim
2) 3 & D forward with size
3) starting-caliber PG who can shoot and defend.

For example, Paul Milsap at $10m is a lot more valuable than JR and a $4m player who can only play one side of the ball. So yeah I wouldn't hesitate to move him for an expiring.

This is a players league. Phil Jackson can talk about imaginary high IQ players that the Knicks will sign for pennies all he wants. I dont believe Dolan paid Phil 12 million per year to rebuild or to tank for Lebron or Durant.

Dolan wants Phil Jackson to sell the dream to the fans not him.

So he isn't on record saying Melo told him in the exit interviews that he would take less right? He's basing it on Melo's comments during the season.

So what is less? What's your number?

If Jackson determined that Anthony was not worth a maximum contract that would carry him to his 35th birthday and believed the Knicks to be better off clearing massive cap space to attract free agents after the 2014-15 season, would James L. Dolan, the Garden’s executive chairman, go along with a decision to walk away from his signature move, which restored star power to the organization? Would he allow Jackson to tempt Anthony to look elsewhere with a reduced offer?

I'm late as usual :noway: BUT it seems like to me the media is drumming up mystery based around a straight forward message Phil gave.Melo's not getting max money, and Phil said it without "saying" it so to speak , so why the doubt that Dolan's gonna get out of pocket if the consensus is Melo's either taking a haircut or he's out?

Jackson was promised full autonomy by Dolan in running the organization. But a little more than a month after he signed a five-year deal, there was a report Wednesday in The Daily News that Dolan was resisting some nonbasketball personnel changes that Jackson wanted to make.

Jackson did not dismiss the report, saying: “I like to know that the people who are here want to buy in and they want to be part of it and throw their entire being into what we’re trying to do. If they have a brand or stamp on them that puts them as Phil Jackson’s guy or whatever, that’s not important. It’s important that we join forces and minds and work together.”

All Phil would honestly have to do is pull the tapes, most recently this season....melo needs help and a maxed out Melo merely sells out a building that will do so anyway.

Phil noted very well that taking less to build a better team really is whats on the table and thats it, and he made it pretty clear that his vision can come to fruition withuot with Melo.

Imo, I'm a firm believer that Dolan wants credit more than anything....hiring Phil paves the way for him to get that credit by letting him do work....so far so good, but that has to continue, and I think it does.

I think I will speak for all of knicks fans when I say: as long as Phil has a plan that would make us contenders for the championship for years to come, I wouldn't care if our roster was made of 15 D leaguers and we went 0-82 next season
