Pels are gonna take that deal. They get what they want, even if those LAL young players are a tad overrated.

Pelicans would be doing themselves a disservice if they took a lesser offer (player/pick wise) to get cap relief. The only guys on big contracts past this season for them are Holiday, Moore, and Hill, and Holiday and Moore are good players; they should just wait for Hill to expire in 2020 rather than taking a lesser offer to unload him. It's not like the Pelicans need the cap space immediately, especially after trading AD

You're not...

Part of me wants it, but my gut is just telling me it's a bad idea. I think you are better off trying to get 2 maxcats in the offseason and using your picks for depth or trade for a 3rd star (maybe even AD). Instead of just trading all your assets for AD and just getting 1 maxcat (and being stuck with no picks and depth).

I hope Pelicans keep playing hardball till the Lakers cave in and give them whatever they want. Because their offer now is a low ball.

Why is everyone so quick to trade the farm to form a 3-man team? This isn't NBA2K. Heat didn't win the 1st year and they only won the 2nd year bc OKC was a young team. They should've lost the following year to the Spurs if it wasn't for Ray Allen. Top heavy teams with vet-min players isn't ideal for sustainable success. We're better off keeping Zion and the young guys and letting either Zion or Knox become the 3rd option.

lmao Damn and I was hesitant to give up our young guys. They gave up their entire core to satisfy Lebron. At least Hill means it makes it harder for them to sign another top guy no?

Lakers getting Solomon literally opens the gate of Kyrie coming to NY.

If that’s what Lakers are willing to do to get AD then they count me out.

That’s the whole team right there.

Lebron as great as he is, as how well he’s played this year, he’s gonna be 35 next year. If AD wants to attach his star to that with no-one else then....good luck.

Who gives up money between Kyrie and KD? Cuz we'd be about a min of 5 mill short of being able to offer the max to the both of them.

Neither. You trade Frank for a future 2nd and decline Dotson’s option.

Still not enough money. I repeat. If we got rid of EVERYONE on the roster except AD. We would go into Free Agency unable to give the full max to both Kyrie and KD. We could give max contracts to Kawhi and Kyrie. Noahs buyout makes it impossible.

My bad, overlooked the AD salary.
I’m in the “trade for AD in the Summer” camp because I know we can offer KD & Kyrie Max, then go over cap to trade for AD.

Not that I want him, but I think NY can make a better off than LAL.

That’s a more than fair offer the lakers are putting out there, sounds like a done deal

I sure as hell don’t want the Knicks to give up that much

That takes the Lakers out of Kyrie and Kawhi.

You could dangle picks for Paul George. George-Durant-Kyrie.

so stupid, take the best prospect/pick package. the only bad contract is Solomon Hill who makes like 13M next year and is a FA in 2020, that's not that bad.

issa business. Thomas made his decision to play through injury. Unless they forced him.. Boston was smart to look to upgrade on damanged goods..

it is a business, but like the former porzingis would say.

family over anything.

these players care about family. boston embraced IT like family, celtics organization treated him like family. then poof, gone. boston celtics don't care about family, boston celtics pretends to be someone to like you ... then you get played.

why would kyrie re-sign when he knows they'll trade him for the first shiny object that's available?

it's the cost of doing business, treat people like chit and nobody will want to be employed by you.
Kyrie signing a max deal with Boston, if I would feel confident I’m not going anywhere anytime soon. IT was an upcoming FA the year prior. It was unfortunate, very very awful of his sisters death. Playing through that along his hip injury was his decision. If you want to improve your team you have to do it. Kyrie literally won the Cavs a championship. Thomas made a huge risk, playing and making it worse, and it bit him in the ass.

Totally agree. It's a huge offer for a guy who is going to leave anyways. The offer makes no sense unless you have LeBron or if you're GS and have several stars that you can sacrifice for 1 superstar.

Lakers getting Solomon Hill takes them out the AD race, no?
I think Lebron’s fallback is Kemba anyway

Kyrie probably has trust issues as it is.

How do we know he doesn’t feel betrayed by the AD trade rumors? Celtics would’ve traded him in an instant if they could. But the Rose provision kills that from happening until he signs a new contract.

Yeah, that probably beats anything we could offer unless we get the #1 pick, which is far from a certainty, and wasn't there a report that we didn't want to trade our pick this year anyways?

Sounds like AD to LA is a done deal, unless the Pels really try to get cheeky and think they're gonna get Ainge to actually give up assets

Lonzo really isn't good enough yet for them to worry about this, but I wouldn't be shocked if he was willing to pull what KP threatened the Knicks with and just sign the qualifying offer to get out of there... Lavar has always said that money isn't an issue for these kids because ultimately they own their own sponsorships with BBB. That makes that package way less appealing if I'm the Pels. It's probably still the best one out of the chit ones Rich Paul saddled them with with that list (clearly rigged for the Lakers to get him IMO) but just something that I would note from an interested outside perspective...
