Well, that depends if Rondo is healthy or not. A healthy Rondo may get the max from a number of teams. John Wall just got the max. Eric Gordon got a huge deal. Teams still hand out plenty of bad contracts.
A not fully healthy Rondo may only get the max from the Knicks and that could spell trouble again.
Either way, the Celtics are the sellers and have awhile until they are forced to make a decision. The Knicks are the desperate broke team. It'll be awhile until the Knicks can make a move and they may end up with damaged goods if they get a deal thats too good to be true.

Lin's connection to Harvard is probably interesting for the celitcs too.
One more reason we should have signed Lin. Like we needed one more reason at this point.

How does that make you better than the Lin, Gallo, and Wil fans who root for them over NY?

I think both deals look awful, but those contracts wouldn't touch what I mean max. Rondo's max would resemble more like Chris Paul's.
Don't get me wrong. I want Rondo on this team and once we get him, I don't mind paying him whatever is necessary. I am just saying if I am Rondo and I am after the max (I should be), I would want New York.

Lin and Asik are not cheap - especially next year with their poison pills kicking in. Lin and Asik are also role players and ur giving up a franchise PG who is in his mid 20's. That trade gets you nowhere closer to being a powerhouse contender and gives you zero assets for the future as Lin and Asik r not cheap or super young. Might as well keep Rondo - hope you bottom out this year and bring in a Wiggins/Randle/Parker and play Rondo with them.
As far as the Knicks - i mean thats just ridiculous as Shump is a role player with some upside, and us taking G wallace from them really doesn't do anythign but fast forward some cap room while giving up their best asset. This will also net them zero picks outside of maybe a 2018 one which i would hope they think they r OK on giving they got like 5 from Brooklyn. Do not see how this makes any sense at all for the team. Even if they brought in Shump - Felton - Hardaway JR. thats all nickels for a blue chip player who is in his 20's.

I don't think that is the appropriate question. The more important question for Rondo should be: Who is more likely to give you a five year max at the age of 29 after a major injury when you are a career 62 percent from free throw line, 24 percent from three point guard?
Don't get me wrong. I do want Rondo, but let's not act like he is a proven superstar.
Same guy that can't shoot straight torched Heat for plus 40 in key playoff game and has 10 playoff triple doubles - is elite penetrator, with elite vision and makes everyone better - he's a superstar
There is that word again

Well if you go over one game or a series, I guess you are right. Question comes down to whether you can put role players around Rondo and he can carry his team to at least the playoffs and with another great piece whether he can win you a championship. I don't think the answer is positive. I doubt Boston thinks so either. I see no scenario any team is paying Rondo 22+ million a year TBH with the exception of New York Knicks.

Says the guy that could not understand how we could ever consider trading Shump for Bledsoe.
