This is the same playbook as with the Randle injury. Keep it "optimistic" and vague in the aftermath. Prevent a ****. And then like a snake announce the severity sometime down the line with the season close to an end.
The Julius Randle playbook. By now the team has taken X-Rays and an MRI. They know the extent of the injury. Them not announcing anything is not a good sign at all.
Would it help if I comforted you by saying this is all a figment of your imagination with no basis in reality
Would help if I comforted you by saying I was right and you were wrong.
Exactly like I told you how it would play out. Knicks will give an "update" in two weeks. No info on which grade of sprain it is. No recovery timetable, nothing. Could have just said nothing, would be the same. Randle playbook all over again.
I will further help you in giving you that 2-week update today so you don't hold your breath: "Brunson is showing progress on his sprained ankle and doing everything to be back for the playoffs. Whether he can make it or not is uncertain."
BTW with the severity of the sprain, even if he makes it back after 5 weeks the ankle will be unstable. Playing on it will carry a risk. For this to be properly healed to play playoff basketball without risks it will take a couple of months at the least. This season is over guys, like I told y'all.
