right now, we have a 13.9% chance of getting a top 4 pick....13.9>3.5
it clearly makes more sense to lean into draft positioning than try to push for the playoffs. Knicks should be sellers
would love to sell Randle, but a deal is probably easier around draft time. at the very least, they need to get rid of 2 of Kemba, Burks, Fournier to free up minutes for younger players. would be great to get out of the Noel deal too and give ourselves some cap space this offseason

That's not how our moron of a coach views it. Until the standings put an "x'" next to the Knicks to officially eliminate them mathematically or every aged player on the team is in a wheelchair, he likes his odds of making the play-in...the fugginf play-in is his quest.

I would probably still do a Westbrook - Randle swap but we'd be trading Randle at his absolute lowest point in terms of value. Hate watching him but he still has more value than Russ AND it only increase in value over time.

Knicks would never do this but would you do this and just cut Russ?

if the pick is lotto protected, no
regardless, if they were to acquire Westbrook, I'd buy him out immediately. he's not the player I want around our young guys. I don't think his style of play would be conducive to their development
there must be other deals out there to get rid of those players. I don't really care about getting assets back, I'd just be happy for expirings in return
Burks is probably the easiest to move and maybe you combine him w/ Kemba or Noel to get rid of them. Fournier has been solid, and IMO he could help a contender. he's shot lights out since the new year. after this season his contract is only 2 yrs/35M which isn't terrible

I think our only shot at an expiring was UTA with Ingles.
I doubt LAL wouldn’t put some protection on the pick considering we’re giving them garbage

If Mitch is leaving and they know they won’t resign him they may as well attach him to Fournier and see if that works.

Lakers won’t make this trade. They don’t want our garbage and certainly not giving up another FRP. Why would we buy out Westbrook? He has a solid reputation of a hard worker and has never been thought to be a bad locker room guy. At the worst, they would give him the John Wall treatment and keep him around until next year to use his expiring contract to make other trades.
