They apparently told Lin to set his market.

Nothing wrong with him doing that.

Now they just have to make the decision.

What has he proved, He took you POS team to the playoffs Melo should be on his knees.
Stop trolling! Stop putting one man above the team. Lin inspired the players and fans to get back up when we were down! He did not single handidly carry us to the playoffs. Melo and the rest of the cats played extremely well down the stretch enough Lin is not God....... still can't believe we're gonna lose him though :(
He did almost single-handedly turn the season around for us. You could say him, Novak, and Chandler. But mostly Lin.
Inspired the turnaround yes I said that didn't I? But he came back down to earth a bit and the rest of our guys picked up their play and we played better as a TEAM

Rockets fan here. We've been talking on Rockets boards and we figured out that Morey planned out stealing Lin from you guys by ramping up the offer sheet from the start. He didn't resign our starting pg, Dragic, and he traded our backup, Lowry, for a draft pick. This was after the Knicks had let it be known that they would match any offer for Lin, so obviously he had his plan in place from now. He knew that the Knicks planned to match any offersheet, so he purposefully negotiated the first one low. This caused the Knicks to make moves with the assumption of a 9mil poison pill in year 3. They signed Novak and Kidd to 3 year deals, and the Rockets even traded them Camby--on a 3 year deal. Only after they were done making moves did Morey ramp up the offer sheet to the dramatically higher 15mil in the third year. The Knicks had not planned for this, and now they had already committed salary, and could no longer match. Had the 15mil poison pill been offered from the start, the Knicks could have still matched, but Morey fooled them.

That's evil genius style.

If that is all true than I have to hand it to Morey. That would be playing this off season like people play chess.
My eyes glaze over when reading alternative stat (not advanced stat) narratives that go many paragraphs long. If you can not make your point in 2 paragraphs it may not be a great point. :D

Shumpert anyone?

Lin was better than Shumpert by a long shot last year. Shumpert was good, Lin was an impact player.

Shumpert has a long, long way to go before he can contribute to a winning team on the offensive end in the NBA. I love his defense, intensity, and swagger--but he's a Tony Allen, a role player.

I don't want to trash the kid, but to suggest that he showed anything remotely close to what Lin showed, would be, well, stupid. I'd honestly be surprised if he ever does.

What were you watching?

Shumpert deferred to the vets a lot as a rookie, offensively..He knew as a rookie, as to how that team was constructed, his job was to defend, hustle and facilitate rather than try to outshoot his team.. He has a lot of offensive skills to boot. Definitely a future 15-20 point scorer in this league.

I just want Lin back.

The future without him looks bad. He's someone you can watch develop at least. Now we have an old team with not assets for the future and our only young player is Shump who's coming off of a bad injury.

This team will make the playoff without Lin but I think Lin can be that guy that makes us better if he preforms. We need to take that risk.

I don't like how Lin handled this, or what Melo and JR commented. These guys are all douchebags but from a basketball point of view we need them all to contend.

Another sign that this is based on personal animosity. I'm calling it now in the end we'll have enough evidence to conclude that this was Melo being a douche.

WE TOLD HIM TO. WE SAID WE'RE NOT GOING TO "BID AGAINST OURSELVES". GO SET YOUR MARKET VALUE. JESUS H. CHRIST. STOP TRYING TO SCAPEGOAT AND BLAME LIN.

We took every measure to fck ourselves. It sounds more and more like the Knicks don't and never really wanted Lin back. And I don't get it.

Too extreme to believe, honestly.

And let's be clear here - the Knicks have not lost anyone, for any price, at this point. Y'all are being fed a narrative and jumping to conclusions at this point.

JR?

And lets be real, if Lin wanted to be back he could have worked something out... He didn't simply get his value. He got the most he could get. There's a little bit of a difference to me.. Sounds like a player trying to get the most he can before he's defined

Signs they had to make sure this deal got done. Ask yourself why. You need another 2 more than a 1 unless you are losing Lin.
