Show me a player that doesn't try to get his biggest payday?
Utter nonsense.

They apparently told Lin to set his market.
Nothing wrong with him doing that.
Now they just have to make the decision.

I just think someone going from 'we're having a really good off season' to 'everybody on this team sucks' smells a little funny.

Sorry to say but it's looking more & more likely the #Knicks will not match #JeremyLin. Hearing offer "too high/tax" & "what has he proved?"

Management needs to worry about that tax hit later not now

Rockets fan here. We've been talking on Rockets boards and we figured out that Morey planned out stealing Lin from you guys by ramping up the offer sheet from the start. He didn't resign our starting pg, Dragic, and he traded our backup, Lowry, for a draft pick. This was after the Knicks had let it be known that they would match any offer for Lin, so obviously he had his plan in place from now. He knew that the Knicks planned to match any offersheet, so he purposefully negotiated the first one low. This caused the Knicks to make moves with the assumption of a 9mil poison pill in year 3. They signed Novak and Kidd to 3 year deals, and the Rockets even traded them Camby--on a 3 year deal. Only after they were done making moves did Morey ramp up the offer sheet to the dramatically higher 15mil in the third year. The Knicks had not planned for this, and now they had already committed salary, and could no longer match. Had the 15mil poison pill been offered from the start, the Knicks could have still matched, but Morey fooled them.

Shumpert anyone?
Lin was better than Shumpert by a long shot last year. Shumpert was good, Lin was an impact player.
Shumpert has a long, long way to go before he can contribute to a winning team on the offensive end in the NBA. I love his defense, intensity, and swagger--but he's a Tony Allen, a role player.
I don't want to trash the kid, but to suggest that he showed anything remotely close to what Lin showed, would be, well, stupid. I'd honestly be surprised if he ever does.

The complexion changes when you find out you're losing a key player for nothing.
