Regardless a sf/ sg that can shoot, play defense and doesnt need the ball in his hands to be effective is quite valuable. 10 million is a bargain for such a player. Cant swing for the stars on every signing the knicks make
I'm not giving a 4 year deal to a 3D SF that should be replaceable with a MLE or rookie.
Reggie doesnt playmake and isn't a difference maker on a team that needs scoring and playmaking from the PG SG SF position. Reggie's production is worth way more to a team that already has #1 and #2 pieces where he isn't asked to do anything but camp a 3pt line. His production to Boston or PHI is way way way more valuable than NYK.
this team has no primary ball handler that can create, run the pnr, or playmake
so, yeah, signing Reggie is actually stupid from NYK perspective because it locks up a roster spot and closes off more options for actually getting a pg sg or sf that can be a #1 for the team.
LMFAO Reggie Bullock a 6th man. Ok buddy. 3pt line camper that occasionally runs a 2man game with Randle is our 6th man. hahahahahaha sorry that's just sad/
For Reggie and RJ to start together, the following things would need to happen:
The Knicks get a really elite PG (not happening)
The Knicks get a really really good scoring PG - chance of it happening. Knicks still not a contender
Reggie starts to be able to play some of the the ways RJ plays while maintaining current 3 pt efficiency - not happening
RJ becomes elite 3 level scorer - not happening next year; might happen in another 2 full seasons
It's not that Reggie isn't a good player, of a certain kind. It's not that RJ isn't good or improving. It's that it's not really quite enough shot creation/dribble penetration from the wings and really, not enough scoring, period.
I don't mind Bullocks coming back and is in the rotation, off the bench.
Anyway, It's fun for me to joke around and say "hit the bricks" or "NO WAY" for certain players, either on the Knicks or the Knicks are thinking of getting, but it comes down to just a few things:
Is their price right in that not overpaid, contract not too long, doesn't impact future moves, doesn't impact 2022 FA/trades
How do they fit with the other moves the Knicks make?
And, can't really know the answers until the moves start happening and really, until done.

im fine with Scott. He deserves praise for trading Porzingis, but infinite Ls for hiring Fizdale
but legit I will blow a gasket if our offseason is Lonzo Ball or Nunn
ill legit become 199999x more insufferable on the boards if its Lonzo Ball or Nunn and 19 + 21 are busts.

All that being said, I would pay more for a player who can put the ball on the floor a little bit.
Reggie was erased from the playoffs because he's a standstill shooter who needs his offense spoonfed to him.
That probably has a lot more to do with Randle going spastic and Rose being worn down in the playoffs since Reggie played off of them in the regular season. He's not a creator himself, but a good spot up shooter so if your whole ball distribution system disappears in the playoffs it will leave a guy like him hanging out to dry. I wouldn't judge Reggie on this. It was his teammates who were gassed or in fail mode.
That inherently is a flaw of Reggie's though.
Look at someone like Huerter for the Hawks. Just by being able to lightly attack the closeout, he is so much more effective.
Reggie doesn't even provide the type of creation off the dribble that someone like Danny Green has (which is generally making a decision within 3 dribbles of the closeout)

That would never happen. Leon has done nothing to make us swing to the negative side.

Leon Rose resigned Elfrid Payton last summer, with no back-up point guard to start the season.

Now that you reminded me. We passed on my pick Hali. Payton situation was a disaster but there was no one else left on the market lol.
