I'm realizing that pre Lakers game the Knicks were still suspect. This is a low IQ team because they're handicapped at the PG position. And RJ could shoot 75% from 3's but he still needs someone to facilitate his shots. He can't create his own shot yet. What if Randle gets injured? What kind of team is this? Who will be the #1 option? There were tons of games where the Knicks closed out poorly this season. And the playoffs is about having high IQ's and knowing how to close out games.
It depends on where your goal posts are and although mine have shifted throughout the year - i'm taking this squarely from a "I believe we deserve the 4th seed regardless of playoff outcome and I believe that we deserve to at least have a very close if not winning first round of the playoffs"
That is what I think we deserve based on how we have played this season and so I think i cant help but be disappointed if its anything less than that - based on how we have played this season - and not based on what was expected this season.
Re. Randle getting injured you can say the same for a lot of teams. What if CP3 gets injured. The Nets haven't been together for anymore than what 7 games? What if Embiid gets injured. Those things are unforseen.
I don't think the team is suspect for a 4 seed and a tight round 1 matchup. My goal posts have never been any further than that - at times they've been less but never been more.
And I have full confidence in our F.O to know that they need to upgrade next season so moving forward the landscape will be different.
