It is far more complex than that. When Russian hackers created fake BLM Facebook Groups and then created false flag rallies that Cambridge Analytica (Parscale, Kushner, Bannon, Mercers, Trump, etc.) then brought to the attention of targeted voters in order to arouse their anger, I'd say NOT doing anything to counter the weaponization of FB by foreign and internal enemies of fair elections is irresponsible. Sophisticated agents and coordinated disinfo campaigns abuse FB all the time. This is not just a matter of individuals expressing their opinions. FB is making profits off of those ads, thus they are more complicit than you're accounting for.

I don't disagree with that but since FB has proven that it cannot responsibly platform politics without it being weaponized, then it should lose that privilege. No more politics of any kind of FB. What's wrong with that?

The problem is that basically everything is politics.

You can definitely cut out political ads without getting hung up on the definition of what is a political thought or expression.

Yeah I had no idea about the clown world. There’s no way the use of it wasn’t in some way intentional. Sad that anyone subscribed to that type of thinking, even sadder that it’s being pushed on a basketball forum

https://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Clown_World

You people are a riot. Just one slander after another.

This is the definition of Clown World IDK WTF that piece of propoganda you cited is.

https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Clown World

The main thesis of the philosophy goes as such. With how increasingly absurd the state of modern society is becoming, the world itself seems like one gigantic circus - hence, the only remaining option is take the role of an archetypal medieval jester and laugh in its face. This mindset is also referred to as being "clownpilled," as a sort of sister-pill to the more well-known "blackpilled" phenomenon, with the main difference being that the center of the pill revolves around a sort of "cheerful nihilism" as opposed to the old doom and gloom. Nothing matters, so why worry about it? Just grab some popcorn and enjoy the show!

I don't think anyone needs to infer intent in order to read that rationalwiki.org explanation and understand why people get mad at your use of the phrase. Instead of continuing to use a potentially racially charged phrase that multiple posters have expressed offense to, just cut it out. This is a warning. J4remi

I see.

So this clown world nonsense is another alt right language trick. These tricks create a duality of meanings to create plausible deniability. Like Pepe and the OK sign. One definition paints it as a troll and the other with direct connection to memes supporting the white ethno state.

The goal is to put "the libs" between a rock and a hard place, with the insidious intent documented but not well known... so the appearance is cracking down on something innocuous... or letting the insidious fly. It's clever. But discovered. A new trick may be needed.

Clown behavior, really.

Excellent dissection

Yes, these tactics go hand in hand with playing the victim card, i.e. you're trampling on their rights when someone objects to their tactics

All of their games are meant to work as funhouse mirrors where projections are made, but no accountability is claimed.

And when such a person is confronted with simple questions like:

Do you support Trump's stated intention to steal the election? they use a variety of deflections, like

1) fake news!
2) my discredited news source says otherwise
3) you're attacking me
4) the person asking the question is not credible (IOW, they put it on you even though the question is quite credible); or
5) I'm not playing your game (even though that is the exact game of demanding answers that they often play)

Today Trump said to his followers to vote twice, to cheat, but can you ask this person if they still support Trump and get an honest answer, i.e. No, I no longer will vote for Trump, because I don't condone election fraud or Yes, I will vote for Trump still because I don't care if he commits election fraud? No you cannot, because they are never playing with a full deck

so when busted for saying Clown World, they deploy various of these tactics to brush people off when it is clearly phrasing used by internet crypto-fascists who try to seed confusion online by muddying the discourse with easily identifiable disinfo tactics if you train your eye to catch it. This one here is really blatant about it so it is not hard at all to see what they're doing

It’s just more right wing gaslighting that we’re used to. The thing about the alt right memes and everything is that they’re not even particularly subtle. Using the phrase randomly out of context just makes it that much more obvious regarding the intent.

The interesting thing about the race is that the Governor is running away with it and has very high approval ratings based on his handling of the coronavirus. Can’t wait for Biden to get out there and hopefully have Cooper help push him over the edge in NC

Hey, no problem. I had no idea there was an alternative definition. I used it the way I knew it to be defined which was harmless.

Then again by rationalwiki's own admission they have a rivalry with conservapedia so maybe they're just a lefty site putting conservative memes in the worst possible light and it's not the way its generally used. At least it's not used at all the way rationalwiki presents it at any forum I go to.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/RationalWiki

A significant fraction of activity on RationalWiki is critiquing and "monitor[ing] Conservapedia".[8] RationalWiki contributors, many of whom are former Conservapedia contributors, are often highly critical of Conservapedia, and according to an article published in the Los Angeles Times in 2007, RationalWiki members "by their own admission" vandalize Conservapedia.

Aha! The old I misunderstood and meant no harm tactic. More deflections, more BS

IOW, they'e saying you're the one projecting while taking zero accountability for their actions

I suppose writing this was another innocent goof on their part:

"Where would these poor Black folk be without you telling them what to do?"

Was calling the board "poor black folk" also a misunderstanding?

I knew it was only a matter of time before you reverted to your old way of posting and your true self

and was the unequivocable implication I'm a self-important liberal acting out pretensions of providing leadership for black people also a misunderstanding?

as if "folks" here can't choose for themselves what to believe and whom to follow

Any accountability for saying that?

Yeah, I didn't think so

OK, I'm done and I'll step out of the mods way now

I felt the need to show they are still playing the exact same game with their completely bogus pretense of innocent misunderstanding and insincere half apology

So I'm a loathed liberal, but they can't be bothered to confront what they said about the board being poor black folk

See how they pick and choose and evade?

The whole thing seems like less than on the up and up. Just imagine destroying your own business to own the Libs. MAGA!

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8693103/Nancy-Pelosis-stylist-comes-defence.html

Unfortunately this part right here tells you everything you need to know about the average American’s understanding of politics.

'Ms. Kious took special interest in the appointment during this telephone call, wherein she made several vitriolic and incendiary comments about Speaker Pelosi and her purported responsibility for temporarily suspending operations of Ms. Kious' business, despite such orders actually being put into place not by Speaker Pelosi, but by Governor Gavin Newsome and San Francisco Mayor London Breed.

I'm assuming you saw the WH presser where they ran a video loop in the background. These people are children. If you'd told me five years ago this is how a president would run their briefings I'd have said no way. Everything they do would get rejected for a script as being too pathetic and unbelievable

BTW, this article is one of the most devastating pieces on Trump I've ever read. None of it is surprising, but the clarity in which it maps out the pathology of this guy's mind wherein he literally cannot grasp the point of serving anything unless there is something for him to gain personally is why he disdains military people so consistently. They're all suckers to him. Just like the rest of humanity, but even worse as there is no act of sacrifice that can be understood by him. To be precise, he is 100% sociopathic with no capacity for empathy. How does anyone support a president who has no concept of service? To support Trump means you're either a sociopath yourself or are deeply ignorant of the implications for the future his true nature foretells.
