Again with "second round picks" don't matter. Yet second round picks were required for the trades for these players that are supposedly good acquisitions, like Kidd and Camby.

I didn't say they won't contribute, I said they aren't impact players. Yet we brought them in as if we are rounding out our roster for a title run, when we have not chance, while getting rid of the one player who could have helped now AND been a building block for the future. Self-destrucive, senseless management that continues the Knicks' cycle of futility. Every time, we try to rationalize it. I've been there rationalizing it every time along with everyone else. But this is one time too many, and just too blantant, to be ignored.

You take an explanation for why it does matter and then just say "okay so it doesn't matter." In an environment where there are 3 teams you have almost no chance to beat ahead you in the title chase, and you have a player who both gives you your best chance now and is also one your only long-term building blocks, and you throw that away...this is all interconnected.

No, it's not.

We have a chance to beat OKC, the Lakers, and Miami.

The moves those teams make do not directly affect us. All we can do is build the best team we can. Period.

Let's worry about making the Finals before we start complaining about the Lakers.

Are you saying the Knicks aren't doomed? What's the definition of "not doomed" then? I don't think we're even close to being in the discussion for a championship, and we just let our best young player walk for nothing, while rounding out the roster with old vets who aren't impact players. Were are in draft-pick debt, and our one young up-and-comer is going to be coming off a major injury. We'll be a +.500 team, and if everything clicks we might even be a 50 win team. But that's about it, and then we are rebuilding in 3 years. I guess it just depends on what the definition of "doomed" is.

Doomed implies that you are first destined for something. Which again, goes right into what fans of other teams criticize about the Knick fans...when they act like they deserve something and, when they don't get it, get robbed of it. NY is no more destined for anything than any other team. And, as a result, it isn't doomed anymore than any other team.

So because we're not championship locks were doomed?

Old vets that aren't impact players? Kidd and Camby may not be their former star selfs but they hardly are useless.

Draft pick debt? We have no 2nd round picks (wow). We have dealt 2 1st round picks during a stretch that the Knicks will still be among the better teams in the NBA (wow).

2nd round picks weren't involved in the Kidd signing so not sure what you're talking about here. The Mavericks wanted more than just 2nd round picks (see how much they are viewed as desirable?)...why? cause they actually wanted him back. The Blazers weren't interested in Camby back at all...ergo why they were willing to trade him for a 2nd round pick AND to swap a much more useful Jared Jeffries for Kurt Thomas.

And how do you know they wont be impact players? What's an impact player? 20/10? The Knicks weren't getting those for 2nd round picks and no capspace.

Rationalize about what? What exactly are we rationalizing? That we didn't trade for HOward? We didn't have the assets along with roughly 28 other teams...to trade for him. So what are we rationalizing? Should it be the same rationalization that the other 28 teams that would have LOVED to have him should be rationalizing right now?
