Next time I see the front office guys, I'll try to remember to ask about that. Unless it is public knowledge, they probably won't answer since it is health related. Tough to get that info sometimes.
As far as coverage goes, I spent a ton of time with Phillip Rossman-Reich from Orlando Magic Daily and Zach Oliver from Orlando Pinstriped Post this week. They are both great guys and really committed to cranking out Magic content.
Phillip especially is putting stuff up every single day. That dude is a grinder and is killing himself to get stuff up. Zach and crew have a little more or a measure approach. But I think they are both doing big stuff. If you aren't following them, I'd get on that right away.
Awesome man. I appreciate it.
Have you heard anything about the Millsap situation in Atlanta? He's probably the best player on their roster, but doesn't appear to be the best fit with Dwight. Does his age and impending free agency make him a candidate for a trade?
why wouldnt Millsap be a great fit with Dwight? We were begging for years to get him here with us when we had Dwight.
And here in Atlanta, FO news is adamant that they dont want to trade Millsap.
I don't doubt that at all. They aren't a horrible fit, I just think their offense could get clunkier than in years past.
It's no secret that Horford and Howard have completely different styles. Howard scores the vast majority of his points around the rim and doesn't make many plays for others outside of the high post. Most of his passes are out of a post up that is kicked out to a shooter. That's why he has paired well with volume 3 point shooters such as Rashard Lewis and Ryan Anderson. He had moderate success with Brandon Bass, but he was a low usage role player. How does this work with Millsap taking on a major offensive role? Also, how many touches does Millsap get near the rim next to Dwight?
Horford had a much more varied offensive skill set where he was a threat from the high post, low post and as a rim roller. His passing was a great boon to the Atlanta offense as well. Zach Lowe wrote a decent article a while back on the value of big men who could shoot and drive/pass. With Howard in the post, Millsap and company will not have benefit of some easy buckets off of a well timed Horford pass.
