I dont know how much more you can do with limited resources. Only major problem i have is drafting Bamba, but i understand logic behind the move. If Okeke becomes any good we will have a nice young core and good veterans on fair deals.
After just two years ? I thought we played well this year despite half of our rotation being out. We draft bpa projects under Weltman, hard to expect quick rewards.
And you think we are going to magically gain respect among players and have money to flung around with a lowered cap space now? After first round exits 2 years in a row and with all of the financial issues the league is going through?
Yeah, they got Markelle, a reclamation project that turned out good, and Isaac who doesn't seem to be able to stay healthy (love the kid to death, have had his jersey since last Christmas), but beyond that nothing has really panned out.
All of the players you listed have been defensive pieces, not a single offensive piece to speak of, outside of maybe Clark.
Our offense is a joke, an unmitigated disaster. There were points during the season where we spend a half a quarter without any points being scored in our favor. Yet we go out and trade for Ennis who wasn't a scorer that we needed and signed Aminu who was really bad for us, and added nothing to the table.
This team has peaked and it is because of a dedication to a certain mentality within the FO and nothing more. Cliff can't pull a rabbit out of his hat because he isn't a top 5 coach, but he can squeeze every drop of potential out of a team, and that is what he has done.
We need scorers and we need an offensive identity. BPA isn't going to help us obtain that if BPA is a long defender and a limited offensive player again. The fix is to forgo BPA and BOSA. Best Offensive Scorer Available.
That's what needs to be emphasize about this team. Defenders is good to have. But without the offense to score with: perimeter scoring, slashing and ability to get the FT line, how do this mgmt group expect to get beyond the basement of the playoff race. Sooner or later, one would have oto get sick of being mediocre and playing it safe. It's time to take some calculated chances t ohelp better the team in the long term.
What if your best offensive scorer available is projected to be bench player and defensive bpa is projected to be a good starter ?
For exemple picking 5 you have to decide between Hayes who maybe will be a good secondary ball handler or even lead ball handler if miracle happens and Okoro who projects to be elite defender and capable offensive player. You could even make better comparison between Okoro and Edwards. Edwards will most likely be a bust but he is projected to go top 3 depending on his unlikely offensive potential.
