oh man, don't remind me, I get so heated when I read those discussions... I'm still PO'd we didn't get Ellis at the trade deadline... I'm not going to waste my energy anymore arguing to Ryan-lovers about why I would have traded Ryan for Ellis... I like Ryan too, but come on... we needed Ellis imo.

To be honest, I don't think either team (GSW/PHX) would have done it anyway... It's the fact that people on this board didn't want it done, its laughable... the guy has proved he will disappear, but they wouldn't trade him for legit NBA stars...

Lol, what I wouldn't give for that deal right now....

So if I read this correctly, with Turk, Duhon, and Von having non-guaranteed contracts, we could potentially have only have Davis and JRich (who should be traded asap) on the books in 2013 for a combined salary of $12.6 mill. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Regardless, we got mad cap space in 2013. That's huge leverage in our endeavor to acquire guys like Monta, Iggy, Smith. Even if we can't land them til 2013, we're still in very good position to do so eventually. As long as Dwight doesn't request a trade, we can perhaps put together a decent squad, in due time. I see 2013 as a light at the end of the tunnel.

Not 100% correct. As far as I know, Hedo's contract is partially guaranteed for $6 mil that last year. That's why I've said all year that we need to trade him, cash and a future 1st pick to a team willing to take a $6 mil cap hit.

You also have to add Dwight's $20 mil and you get closer to $35 mil total with Dwight, BBD, JRich, and Q. If we can move JRich for an expiring, and also trade Hedo, we're golden.

It didnt matter, they didn't want ryan for ellis anyway :-?

If I remember correctly from the information gathered during the finals days of the trade deadline, we were actually about to get Ellis... but Dwight kept going back and forth with his decision to waive the ETO and opt-in his final year... Orlando was going to do a 3-team deal with GS & Mil... management was on the phone with Dwight telling him they will get him Ellis if he waives his ETO... Dwight got all frustrated and confused by it, and then Dwight's stupid agent, Dan Fegan, started giving him misinformation... so a frustrated Dwight then said he will NOT waive his ETO.

The very next day, GS started becoming impatient (and GS's FO also stupidly believed they had a shot at Dwight later this summer) and moved along with the deal, cutting us out of it... literally hours after GS cut us out of the deal, Dwight had that late night phone call w/ Rich DeVos and the talk later on with Jarrod Rudolph (w/ Jarrod publishing his Dwight "interview" for RealGM that very same late night), and Dwight goes into "awww schucks you guys, I'm sorry for being a jerk, I'll stay for another year, here let me opt-in, I love you guys" mode. DOH!!!!
So it was too little, too late by that point.

@ The whole situation:

But yeah, we had a chance at acquiring Ellis, and we missed that window of opportunity.

So are we back to making Dwight sign before we make "necessary decisions"? :nonono:

LOL Really Alex, is that a threat? Sign long-term to Hedo & J.Brick or we'll trade you?

Put up or shutup Martins, noone is extending to this current scrub lineup.

He basically said this on the radio in March too. July will be the earliest they offer him the extension since signing before then would net him one less year and less money. It's obvious the organization does not want to go through another dwightmare season, so it's either sign the extension this summer or be traded.

They better make some changes before having the nerve to ask him for an extension. I think they're misguided for trading Dwight if he doesn't extend. We got him til 2013 and we got money in 2013. Miami did it with Wade.

Our team just went 1-4 in a series, losing against the Pacers... everyone except for Davis played like crap... the FO better make some major changes before demanding Dwight to sign an extension... the nerve

This organization is worried about Dwight? Really? Hey Alex, why don't you worry about Otis and the disgrace of a "championship team" he built?

I hope Otis takes Duhon and J-Rich with him (and Hedo)
