You guys sicken me. There are die hard fans of the worst teams in the league but you have to jump ship the moment it gets a little rough...lol. Only root for contenders

Good to know this whole thing is ironing out the fake fans and next season only true fans will be discussing the team.

I think BMP's point is more so that the league is rigged for those teams.

BMP gonna prove me wrong?

yup. its just natural. people want to cheer for a winner. but it doesn't matter to me. i'm a die hard fan until the bitter end. let all the fake fans jump ship. we'll regroup and the team will regroup and we'll be stronger than ever in a few years. dwight howard is NOT the orlando magic. we were relevant before him and we'll be revelant after him.

So wait, the system is broken and things are rigged to favor a few teams and you are not a fan of those teams. The answer is to now reward the system and become a fan of one of the few favored teams?

That'll show em.

Woj is the new Bucher. Shams is the new Woj. Espn is the new TMZ. The NBA is the new WWE.

rasheed wallace still counted towards the celtics cap when he retired, it affected the celtics free agency

Using Coon's Cap Faq it says "Any salary still being paid to retired players" is counted against the team's cap. A player released by a team is then paid his contract regardless if he retires or plays elsewhere, as well as a player who retires due to injury. Also, a player who is still under contract but wishes to retire can be released from his contract by his team or can be placed on the league's 'Voluntarily Retired' list, which in either case is no longer counted against the cap. Artest would fall in that last category.

Edit: I think the key condition is who initiates the release, if it is the team the player gets paid, if it is the player he forgoes his contract.

I wont ever stop being a magic fan. Even if we go 19 for 63 again. or whatever it was . No it was a 19 losing streak. But we didnt win many more either. That season was by far the worst to be a magic fan, but we rebounded and still supported the team with their flashes of seeming like they could contend. Still enjoy and always will being a Magic fan.

At worst. 18 Points 10 rebounds.

18 points, 11 rebounds. In LA, no one could afford to sag off of Kobe or Pau. I'm sure teams will be just fine leaving Big Baby open to shoot 15 footers and letting Redick try to beat single coverage.

How does a team force a player to retire? They can waive a player, perhaps that's what the first part is referring to - a player who is waived and then decides to retire.

Dwight was only good with Zone defense. Or Pick And Roll Defense. Bynum is a better defender one on one and we probabaly won't be retaining the SVG defense either.

What new "freeflow" offense do we have?

We may get a coach who is strictly a 1/2 court guy. I hope not, but it's possible.

Where are you getting the 'force a player to retire' part from?

Freeflow= Not jacking up three pointers. Actually alowing the offensive game to flow a little more towards the paint rather than the wing.

Well, there will always be some of those locals that like their underdog teams. They will root for their Deiners or JJ Redicks even though their team will be the Warriors or Clippers for the next 10-20 years until they get another Dwight or Blake and be relevant for 3-4 years, then back to the lottery for another 10-20 years. In the meantime, Lakers will average 2-4 ships per decade.

I liken some homers to diehard redneck Nascar fans. They root for Waltrip or Biffle while bashing Gordon and Johnson. Then, all they can do is complain while Hendrix wins race after race.

Why not root for a winner for a change and be happy watching your team win?

You missed the point - we don't even have a head/offensive coach now. We don't know what our offense will be yet.

im not seeing that bolded part?

"If a player retires, even for medical reasons, his team does not receive a salary cap exception to acquire a replacement player." (brandon roy)
