that's not a playoff team yet so we go to the lottery once again and package those 1st round picks we got in the dwight trade to move up in the draft and get SF jabari parker to pair with muhammad and lopez. by the 2014-2015 season we're looking like the OKC thunder a few years ago with an over paid center (but if he's healthy can still put up 15-20ppg) - that's not so bad right?

Yes its bad. I do not want a center who can't rebound and defend in the ONE position you NEED rebounding and defense. Just remember, Bill Russell.

also keep in mind by that point lopez will be halfway through his deal and he'll also have nicholson on the frontcourt helping him out

so in this idealized future scenario i created we have

PG - someone
SG - shabazz muhammad
SF - jabari parker
PF - andrew nicholson
C - brook lopez

now, with muhammad and parker in the wings being a second year and first year player respectively that's a REALLY bright future - who's to say there won't be another melo/howard/CP3 esque drama at that point? with most of our players on rookie salaires other than lopez, we might just have the capspace and personnel to be real player in the market -

idk while we're dreaming why not imagine anthony davis and austin rivers going kobe/shaq in '04 and davis demanding to be traded to ORL? hahahahahaha

Once again, everyone should be rooting for a trade to the Lakers, just to see the look on Stephen A's face. Everything else is about a trade for Bynum is just gravy.

Damian James, Shelden Williams, and Armon Johnson are free agents. I would hope in a sign and trade scenario they'd only be getting 1 year deals.

Trying (hard) to look at the bright side, we'd be getting a ton of cap relief in this deal. J-Rich, Duhon, and Q all gone. We'd be players in 2013 free agency. Possibly an all-star player, in addition to a "pretty good" Brook Lopez and 3 first rounders. I don't think I'd call it one of the worst trades ever. It has all the ingredients of a disgruntled star dump. I think it just hurts worse because of the emotional factor of Dwight screwing us and getting his Brooklyn wish.
11/18/2017 - I have officially disowned Nikola Vucevic and branded him a loser.

- Skal Labissiere was my guy in 2016 pre-trade. Whoops, but I still believe.
- Malik Monk was my guy in 2017. Whoops(?)
- Mo Bamba was my guy in 2018. TBD.

MagicHolland wrote:There's just way too many rumors flying around for it not to be true. If this trade is finalized the Magic are not only going to be horrible, but we're not even going to be remotely close to being fun to watch.

Most likely I'll still stick with the new guys, or I'll pass on following the NBA all together. Even though Brook Lopez isn't as horrible as people make him out to be.. But if I have to watch this stiff white guy for 82 games... Horrible!

see, i think different. too many rumors for this to be true. This is Dwight, his agent and the Nets working the phones and the media to try and force the Magic's hand. No way they can take this steaming pile of a trade

For you all thinking we aren't bad enough for a high pick, you're in for a big surprise.

Chris Mannix ‏@ChrisMannixSI

Kris Humphries agent, Dan Fegan, tells SI that talk of a one-year deal for Humphries is "ridiculous."

Bill Simmons ‏@sportsguy33
Refuse to believe 4-team Howard trade rumor since it involves the words "Brook Lopez" and "max deal." No team could possibly be that dumb.

Oh really? No team......

Yep. That last part makes it burn more than it would otherwise.
