if firing Otis wont change his mind then all this is just bullcrap. then its all an excuse to have a reason for leaving. if he truly wants his team the firing Otis would be the loudest signal to him of how much we want him here.

Remember when Tmac wanted us to trade the #1 pick for "help"? Yeah. Letting players call the shots is a sure path to disaster.

"But Otis has led us to disaster!"

Okay. I don't necessarily disagree. We're looking at a situation now where Dwight wants out, and that's a certifiable disaster. So does Otis deserve to get fired? Yeah. I don't know if he will, but if he got fired today, you wouldn't see me complain.

The point isn't really about Otis or Dwight specifically. It's about not creating an environment where the GMs are just figureheads that indulge a star's every whim. That's not going to work, because players do not know best. Not all GMs do either, so when it becomes clear that yours doesn't, then by all means fire him.

Why would firing Otis change his mind now? It doesn't put us in a better situation to land any of the players he wants. People have to remember that Otis DID try to get CP3, and is probably still trying. If they fired Otis Dwight would just not have someone in the organization to blame.

Well there were reports that Dwight asked for the trade on Monday. The call happened 1am Tuesday (or late, late mon night). Now i know they have said they were not connected, but in light of how things have went i am not so sure.

Ugh......this is going downhill, fast.

One of them is obviously lying. Dwight said NONE of his demands were met, Otis said some of them were, just not all of them.

Dwight says that they have no relationship anymore, Otis says that their relationship is and always has been fine.

I think this is more than not being on the same page. One of them just flat out isn't being truthful.

i'm not advocating players playing GM. Dwight using his list is his way of saying "i don't have any help", without directly insulting the other guys on his team.

i don't think there's a need to 'pick sides', as much as accepting the facts. Dwight doesn't have help, and now he's holding Otis accountable for that. our team's response is to out Dwight and make him face the repercussions of his actions publicly.

*edit - picking sides also won't do anyone any favours. you side with Dwight and give him what he wants and he's still just as likely to leave after this season. you side with Otis, don't give in to Dwight and you risk losing a player that comes along once in a decade - heck, given the recent status of big men in the league, once every 2 decades.

in the end you're looking at losing one of the greatest talents in the league. why? why are we losing him? he says it's because he hasn't got help. i really, really, don't think it's an outrageous request to get him that help.

now, the part that might require you to pick sides is whether or not you consider Hedo + JRich + Gil to be worthy 'help'? Otis says yes, Dwight obviously says no.

we sided with Weis and chased Tmac out of town. we chased Penny out of town (hands were tied on that one). now we're siding with Otis and chasing Dwight out of town?

Yup. While Dwight should have a fraction of the blame, the majority and final blame should be placed on management. Superstars come with egos and a lot of dumb ideas. It's natural for them to want to be heard... sometimes they should be, sometimes ignored. The reason management should take full responsibility is because that's their job. They need to be able to manage superstar egos and keep their players happy. They obviously keep failing. The thing that pisses me off is it seems Dwight has had some reasonable requests... we've all wanted the type of players he's been asking for. He wants tough players and I bet he learned that from facing the pistons and celtics over and over. We have a bunch of softies.

Dwight is lying obviously....

He wants to pave an avenue in which the relationship went "sour", and he "didn't get the players he wanted". It's a perfect thing to say when you're already on the way out and trying to save face.

"Obviously Lying" seems too strong to me. Part of these differences are from each having their own perspective on the situation, part probably from their 'advisers' egging them on (more so Dwight than Otis I would suspect).

Basically, Otis tried to get him help, but he brought his own ideas of help, not Dwight's.

Ha just noticed Dwight wearing a Raiders hat in latest interview instead of Magic hat like the other days... reading too much into it? (sorry if this was mentioned earlier)

I feel like if we trade Dwight we aren't going to get any reasonable trades. . .we're going to end up with some crap in return
