Why would you have to play him? His value is that at mid season he's an expiring $4.5m trade ballast that the Magic will have paid most of the $. At the next draft he is a $4.5 million contract that can be traded for and waived days later for zero cost and quick painless cap clearance.

Why do so many people have Oladipo pegged in at PG, you all are pissing me off.... He's not a PG. Let him excel at SG instead of forcing him to be something he's not.

What difference does it make??? The ball needs to be in his hands anyway. MJ, Kobe, TMac, Wade (in his prime), and other great SG's have the ball in their hands (making decisions) more than their pg's did/do. Stop concerning yourself with the title.

Because Elfrid Payton may not be ready to start at PG come start of the season. It's a plausible scenario. Oladipo and Fournier in the backcourt will suffice and actually make for better floor spacing.

Dipo is a combo guard.

I understand everyone has their own opinions... From my observations he is best utilized as a SG soley. He will excel even more once our PG situation is all set

I don't think people expect Oladipo to start a PG in the long term, just at the start of the season until Payton is ready. It would be stupid to force Payton out there in the starting roll early, let him adjust and feel comfortable until he's ready to start. Also, while Oladipo is really a Shooting Guard, he does well enough at PG and with the addition of Fournier giving us two backcourt players that can handle the ball well, it makes sense to have those two starting early on. Still though, even if Payton does start I still fully expect Dipo to get minutes at the PG position, so I think you should get used to it.

I really don't think it's a bad thing either, he does a pretty good job and with a year of playing some PG under his belt, he should look even better this year. It's great to have a player that is versatile and can play two positions, it allows us to play a lot of different line-ups. Does that mean I don't think Dipo is better suited to play SG, of course not. However, I really don't see any problem having him play some PG, just so long as we don't attend to make that his full-time position, and with the drafting of Payton, I don't think that's what the Magic attend to do.

who's comparing? I'm saying that all great sg's have the ball in their hands most of the time. Oladipo wants to be a great sg and I'm sure that's what the organization is hoping for too.

Chill.. he's just saying great SGs need to have the ball in their hand, so if Dipo wants to be a great SG, he needs to be able to take on that responsibility.

This board wont be prepared for opening day when gordon is slotted as the starting 2 guard lol. but i can honestly see it happening. I feel like vaughn is going to go with the cop out of starting a vet in our lineup. Their is no way gordon is coming here to sit on the bench especially early on. His minutes may tale off later into the season if not traded ala maxiell but early on he will get a lot of burn and we need to be prepared for that lol

You know, in the under 19 World Championships, Donovan started Payton as the 2 guard in every game. Are we going to force him to be a point guard or is he a combo guard too? The Magic want all of them to be GUARDS. :banghead:

i hope he focus on being a pg for this team. Im a believer in that dipo should be playing sg not point but i see dipo playing point again next season while payton learns the ropes.

That would have been so bad. I doubt it was GSW who passed on that. It was probably offered to us and we balked.

Wow, that would have been terrible! I actually prefer Fournier over Harrison anyways, better for for the team, especially with Harkless, Harris, and Gordon all capable of playing SF. So even taking out the first round pick, I still like the deal we got better.
