Guys, if you think that the Magic want to take back Gasol and not flip him for other pieces when they could simply trade for Bynum straight up then you're crazy.

As others have noted, this one reeks of "hey Houston, we're gonna do this. I swear. I'm just about to do it. No really. Here I go ..."

Howard is a huge expiring this year. If the Magic want to clear salary, why would take on a salary that has more time on it? Plus, Aflalo is getting paid $7.7 for 3 more years.
I don't think there's anyway the Magic would contend with Pau and Aflalo added to the team, and adding those two delays a rebuild. So it seems like a bad deal all around to me.

Again, D12 and J-Rich for Pau and Bynum would be a better deal.

I agree. This one just stinks. About as bad as the Nets deal.

Regardless, you can see Lakers are wanting to spread the floor for Nash & Dwight and have shooters camped out.

The Lakers haven't been able to flip Gasol for role players, so idk why the Magic think they'd be able to. ¯\(ツ)/¯
yep
Perhaps because LA is not looking to rebuild with picks and prospects?

Gasol can net picks and prospects?

I'd take that offer over what we're getting.

Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt. XLIII Off-Season Editio
I spoke with Magic CEO Alex Martins two days ago about the Dwight Howard situation, & he had the following to say. I share this now, of course, since Yahoo! is reporting four-way Howard talks with Orlando, the Lakers, Philly and Denver.
Martins. I had asked Martins about the recent assertion in the media that the Magic were changing their wish list in a possible deal and unclear what they wanted.
Martins to SI.com: "Without divulging what the specifics are, I would say that we have very specific goals as to what we would hope to achieve if we were to trade Dwight, ok? And clearly, we have three primary goals that we’re trying to achieve in what we would receive in return. We acknowledge and are realistic about the fact that you’re never going to get equal value in return for Dwight Howard. But if we were to trade him, we have three primary goals that we’re trying to achieve and in the end, any deal that’s proposed to us I think we’ve been very clear about the fact about the goals of what we’re trying to achieve. We have never delineated from that. Some may think that we have, but we have not. Clearly, when we find the right combination of pieces that we’re looking for in return, that will determine whether we make a deal or not." -

If we don't get Iggy and Bynum out of this, I'll be disappointed. Either that or Iggy + Gasol + Ebanks/ W. Chandler. Basically, helping the nuggets get Iggy for al harrington and W. Chandler instead of us getting him is just silly.

Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt. XLIII Off-Season Editio
I like Aaron Afflalo but the rest of this deal does not really intrique me.
I doubt this deal is the one that goes down as it is just as bad if not worse than The Nets deal.
Draft picks would be hard to do unless they are going from Denver.
Philadelphia's first is incumbered because of a draft night deal they made with Miami and so are the Lakers who owe two firsts to Phoenix for Steve Nash.
I think this deal is just another rumor and I think everyone sees it for what it is.

Anything with Bynum and some wing talent. Iggy preferably, but I wouldn't cry if it was Chandler or Gallo or even Afflalo.
