I suppose they have a similar skill set? The key difference though is Vassell actually moves like a 2 guard and will play that position at the next level. Okeke moves like a 4 imo, and we already have Isaac/AG. That was always my issue with the pick. Even if people want to move on from AG I don't see how Okeke would be the longterm answer considering he would present the same problems that the Isaac/AG pairing did except I don't think Okeke is going to be the same type of versatile defender who can guard all 4 positions like AG can. Plus he doesn't have the playmaking capabilities.
What’s becoming more and more apparent is that having less capable reliable shooting on the floor is a bad plan. Almost all seriously contending teams have 1 or less of the inefficient guys in their starting lineup.
If this FO is sold on JI, Fultz, and Vuc being on the team for the foreseeable future they are going to need to find 2-3 guys that can actually hit shots, create offense, and stretch the floor. AG does none of those things very effectively, and Okeke might be able to at least do one of those things well. Whether that’s defending the 3/4 is beside the point.
If we believe Isaac is a PF (I do), he needs to either develop a reliable shot or he needs to be surrounded by offense. AG isn’t that guy.
