Anthony Black, Jett Howard or Tristan da Silva?
Black is the easy answer. But if Anthony plays major backup PG minutes, I think
the correct answer will be da Silva. There are more bench SF minutes, in my opinion, than backup guard minutes.
And da Silva should get some (limited) PF reps when Isaac is in load-management benchings.
Short of a major injury to a SG, I project Howad as being irrelevant to the 2024/25 roster.
There are pathways for both Black + TSD to have meaningful impact. In terms of most positive? Let's be real about a couple things.
- Suggs plays hard and can get injured, this opens Black up to potentially be the starter.
- Harris & Cole Anthony have tendencies to be injured, which leaves Black plenty of reps.
- Franz / Paolo will inevitably need to be sat or Isaac on load management. TSD is going to have plenty of minutes.
The question becomes, based on last year. We saw that Black had the "most" positive impact because at that phase in the season it didn't feel like we lost anything and gained the occasional 3-ball over Fultz. I expect Black to play similar to KCP in the sense that he can default to 3&D.
TSD. Well. The world is his oyster, and we will know fairly quickly I think whether or not the rookie is that bench role player we are hoping for. In all fairness, that is what I am hoping for. A playable version of Okeke. (Sorry Okeke, you are a great basketball player.)
TLDR. I would vote Black, but its TSDs award to lose.
