His likely outcome is overrated second option. Streaky shooting and below average defense. Thats not a good skill set for second option.
He is still great prospect but i wouldnt take him above Suggs and Mobley who seem to process the game on a higher level.
SO let me get this straight....An 19 year old, who is rated as one of the best SG prospects to come out in years, lit up the G league and has a top level work ethic WILL NEVER IMPROVE??
this easily one of the most asinine comments ive ever read on this, or any bball board.
Tbh SG is by far least impacful nba positions there is . The best SG in nba is who really? Beal, healthy Thompson?
There is lot of Zach Lavine in Green. Is that bad outcome of draft ? Not really. But probably not player that will be your lead guy to wins.
I understand that, and somewhat disagree, i think the lack of success for SG is slightly 2 fold in that there arent really any good SG around these days outside of guys like harden, beal, booker, thompson, mitchell and SGA so its not surprising that they havent had a ton of success
The other problem is that the league has basically been dominated by Lebron and Curry and so not to many guys have really had championship level success outside of Thompson.
Doesnt mean that they arent vital to a teams success, for years until lebron took over, the nba was SG centric, with guys like kobe and dwade leading their teams to rings multiple times in the 2000s... so really i think its just lebron being better than everyone that has prevented great SG from leading their teams to wins
But none of that is relevant to my point in my post. My problem is someone thinking an 18 year had peaked and will never reach a certain point or develop skills past 18. To say any 18-19 year old kids cant develop a feel for the game or improve his passing is beyond moronic, especially when its a strong minded, driven kid. Most people dont even know which way is up when their 18 and someone thinks that someone has peaked at that area at 18? get real
Go show me Kawhi at 18 and tell me has court vision or playmaking ability. I was at most of his games at sdsu and let me tell you, that guy was clueless on offense, but he worked on his game and became elite. I can make a list a mile long about players with the same story
