I think this helps us in the tank project next year:

David Aldridge ‏@daldridgetnt 22h
Source confirms @ESPNSteinLine report that the Bobcats have a verbal agreement w/Al Jefferson for 3 yrs, $41.5M. Player option after yr. 2.

I don't see Portland getting involved in this trade, it really doesn't make sense for them. They don't want to and certainly don't appear ready to move Aldridge, despite any rumors. It's just too early for them to get involved.

If a deal happens it's going to be a straight salary dump by GSW and we're not going to be unloading any contracts unless that move has an immediate impact on GSW's cap - meaning, Turk or Al, if they were to turn around and immediately exercise their releases.

But they don't need us to do that. They need us to absorb around 15-18 Million in salary so they have the room to sign Dwight. That's two of those players, and if we do that to facilitate the deal, we obviously want something in return. Is Bogut enough of a return? Maybe he is, but I question his health. I'm guessing either one young player or a pick or two would have to be involved to incent us to take such a deal.

Now, could you then chase Aldridge later on? Well, maybe, but I can't see that getting wrapped in here.

yeah.... I don't see them getting involved either...or moving Aldridge. They've done well this offseason...picking up CJ...which i think will make a nice tandem with lillard. And they've made it a point to add defensive centers like Withey and Lopez. I think they will be a much improved team compared to last season. kind of excited for them.

Orlando helping to facilitate a GSW pickup of Howard would be very feasible. And i think they would much prefer to give away picks than either barnes or thompson. only in and extreme situation would they do that. bogut + fillers + a couple of 1st round picks (though low) aren't bad at all while still maintaining cap flexibility.

OK, I think everyone has no clue about GSWs cap situation. They have $70mil in salary and need to get rid of all 3 of those contracts in order to have room for Dwight (unless they work out a sign-and-trade). I don't foresee us getting just some crappy late 1st round picks for taking on two horrendous contracts. So Bogut needs to find a landing spot and we have to be getting back a decent asset in return. Who is in the market for a solid big man?

Portland
Miami
OKC
Cleveland
maybe Atlanta
Toronto
Houston (doubt they would help Dwight to GSW)
Utah
Denver

Anybody else?

Which of those teams may be interested in Bogut and who could they give back?

Maybe Bogut and Afflalo to Utah and they give us back Millsap (sign and trade)?

I'm guessing it was my use of the word "fillers"...that makes it seem that i was meaning Jefferson or Biedrin. but that's who i was referring to...because out of those guys...the only one i had any interest in is Bogut....because he is a good defender and might look good next to Vucevic....the other two could be cut for all i cared. Unless biedrin decides..."I want to put up career numbers again and get another overpaid contract. but if we have the ability to help....I don't see why not. Even if it was just Bogut/Biedrin + 1 pick.....and then they pawn off another player + pick to another team...i would be happy as well.

but yes....I do understand that they have to clear a ton of space. It might just be hard for them to do in one deal

It's encouraging because he shot it in college, he has decent range.

He only made 29 total threes in four years of college, where the line is shorter. Lots of NBA players make 3s in practice. It will be encouraging when he makes them at an efficient rate in NBA games. Personally, I'd prefer for him to master the mid to long range two before stepping out to the 3pt line.

But AN didn't start shooting 3's until his junior year and his shooting % went up during his senior year even though he shot twice as many 3's as his junior year. Granted, the sample size is small, but its at least reason to believe it could be a useful tool for him even if he doesn't turn into Ryan Anderson.

Which is why I'm not surprised he can make some threes in practice, but I'm not going to get my hopes up that he will start making them efficiently in games or that he will even take that many. Chris Bosh shot a high 3pt percentage with a small sample size in college. He's made 87 at 28% over 10 years in the NBA.

Jeez, Dante Exum's talent level is about three tiers higher than anyone else sharing the court with him right now.

Fran Fraschilla ‏@franfraschilla 5m
Every now & then over thirty years you watch someone special. Today it's Dante Exum. 22 points as Aussies surprising Spain right now, 66-48.

Fran Fraschilla ‏@franfraschilla 8m
Mark this down: Dante Exum could go in Top 5 next June.

Time to start paying attention to Exum.

I've already started my own personal scouting for next season. My hope is that we get a top 5 pick, that's all that I ask. Truthfully, in my opinion, there are at least 7 franchise players next draft. If we could somehow get 2...

My top 5 in order (followed by 2):

Wiggins
Parker
Randle
Gordon
Exum

Smart
Aaron Harrison

History tells us that at least one of those will be a Darko/Oden-level bust, and 3-5 will be only pretty good, as opposed to franchise quality.

More than half of the teams tanking for next year's draft will waste a year for nothing. The one or two who hit a home run will look brilliant, but the half-dozen that aren't significantly better will look foolish.

The fifth team is probably Milwaukee.

Two dominoes waiting to fall are Andrew Bynum and which team gets bogut. If either of those guys plays 60+ games in Atlanta or some other lesser team, the entire tanking situation gets a face-lift.

You do realize the Warriors are beggars and not choosers right? :-?

They're not beggars. Bogut could be moved pretty easily. Lee too. They'd rather move other people instead of them cuz they're bigger chips.

drew could really take the next step offensively if he can add a reliable 3 pointer to his game. hopefully he's been working hard on his defense too.

I don't understand the point in delaying the announcement. If he knows right now, why not get this hole circus over with? Oh that's right, Dwight is an insecure baby who loves th attention.

I agree. I also think the reason he could delay the announcement is to give time to one of the teams to make a trade.

If he was staying in LA I feel like he would just announce that immediately. I think it means hes going to Hou or GS since he said he will announce it possibly this weekend.
