Putting his vaccine beliefs aside, why does he think going on a Fox News interview and continuing to be a lightning rod for controversy is appropriate when he can’t even stay on the floor due to injury. It is totally his right to do it but it’s a really bad look.
I'm sure his anti-vaxx stance sold more jerseys. Isaac posted on his IG the other day, a guy that was so proud to get his new Isaac jersey.
We may not agree with him, but some people do. Would you have been okay if he agreed to an interview on your favorite news channel?

I think what I've bolded is the issue. If some people are agreeing with him, they aren't getting the full story or they are also conveniently leaving out important pieces of information.
JI isn't wrong that there is some evidence that natural immunity from Delta is stronger than immunity from the vaccine. That was one study, though, which didn't test for asymptomatic cases. There have been more studies that say natural immunity isn't as good, though, those were completed pre-Delta.
The issue is that JI speaks about these things like he (and especially his body type) are the norm. He doesn't include a disclaimer like "I'm in the top 1% of physical health in America because of my body type and the work I put into my body to play in the NBA" which obviously puts him in the best position to fight off the virus.
He also doesn't mention that he has access to amazing medical teams and daily health assessments.
He also doesn't mention that the same study he refers to about natural immunity ALSO states that getting vaccinated after COVID infection cuts the chances of getting COVID again in half.
He also doesn't mention how the risks from the vaccine are like 20 in a million which is less risk than getting into a car every day.
He also doesn't mention anything about the competitive disadvantage being unvaccinated brings to him and the team this season.
Overall, he very clearly chooses what he says because it sounds good, not because it's right or the full story. And I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt that he KNOWS the things above because he's a smart human - and if that's the case, he's choosing to be sneaky and misleading. If doesn't know the things above, then he's completely misguided.
Either way, IMO it's dangerous to the greater community and also a lightning rod for divisiveness within the locker room.
