I love all the "gone are the days of mid-range $8-$12mil deals in the new CBA" fanatics. Every deal this offseason basically has proved them wrong.

I would almost argue the new CBA is gonna be the era of the mid-range deal for this reason. A lot of teams saw what happens when you shoot for the moon with a max-level guy that doesn't pan out. Rashard, Gilbert, Brandoy Roy, Amare, Okafor, Bogut, etc....it kind of cripples your team cap-wise for quite some time. I think more and more teams will instead gamble on an $8-$12 type guy (like Sanders, Ty Lawson, Iggy, etc)...and hope that he can be a productive piece to the puzzle. If he underproduces a little, then it wasn't an enormous $15-$20mil/yr investment blown, and the cap hit isn't as bad, and the contract is a bit more moveable. The obvious max guys (CP3, Dwight, Durant, Westbrook, Melo, Lebron, etc) will get their max deals easily and everyone will be competing for them, but beyond that top tier of guys, I don't think there are going to be tons of teams handing out max deals anymore for B-level guys.

Doesn't matter how you look at it, the RealGM app IS Tapatalk. They just pushed their RealGM version is all. I'm still using Tapatalk myself since I like having all my fav forums in one place.

Pretty much this. The RealGM version has ads though and the Tapatalk one doesn't. Plus, I actually paid for it, so I'd rather use this one. The update looks nice too.

I just downloaded the realgm app. This is really the only forum I visit so I don't need to pay for tapatalk. The ads don't bother me since they're way at the bottom of the screen. The other thing I don't like is the absence of the "and1" button.

New article. Biggest camp battles. Magic make the list but one of the players isn't who I expected.

Interesting battle, but I don't think it necessarily plays out as they allude to. If Oladipo shows he can start at PG and play well enough to learn the position and flourish in a couple of years, I love the idea of sliding Jameer to a sixth man role where he plays 20-24 minutes per game, preserves his body, and provides instant energy off the bench.

Of Dipo can't make that transition, AA gets moved at the deadline or sooner for a pick or young talent plus freeing up the starting 3 spot for Dipo to take over.

I would imagine that JV (who studied under John Stockton) will be doing everything he can to get Oladipo ready to play the PG spot. It just makes too much sense.

Running some pick-and-roll and even drive-and-dish sound very different from calling plays and creating situations for teammates to score. I'm sure that if he's asked to, Vic will work hard on developing the necessary skills, but that's very different from learning how to do those from years of practice and on-court usage. If Oladipo does play point, I'd expect quite a few turnovers, along with issues of him being either too passive or too selfish. It's great to expand your game, and I'd love for Victor to be capable of handling the ball and running the offense if need be, but it isn't fair to expect Vic to slide smoothly into the point guard role.

It won't be smooth and he won't be rondo but he can definetly handle playing point ala Wade in his rookie year. Hell, I don't want him to be rondo. Just bring the ball up the court and run a pick and roll. Seriously, what more does Jameer do as a pg? Jameer does protect the ball, for the most part, so that's where Oladipo will have to focus on. Other than that, I think he'll do fine.

I'd prefer Oladipo to transition into a go-to scorer, or at least a top 2 option on this current squad. for that to happen, given his style of game, he's going to need the ball in his hands. with the ball in his hands, and with any hope for him to develop into a star, he will need to develop his play-making and passing accordingly to help his scoring.

so PG or SG, it doesn't matter. just put the ball in his hands and let him be the one figuring out how to create plays. let the next draft decide whether or not he'll continue as a PG or not, but let his game decide how much of a focal point he will be within the offense in the future.

I agree with this. I just think him playing a ton of minutes at the pg spot this year will help him become a better sg; if that's where he eventually ends up.
