It is not hard to be an above average defender it just takes work and effort. Banchero may be talented but i think the motor and defensive ability of Jabari and Chet give an indication that they will get every last bit of talent out of themselves. Also I kept hearing we need to get better shooting for years and we need to stop taking players and trying to develop them to shooters but now we need to take the worst shooter of the three? I know we need creation but I think Banchero creation is not better than Franz he is just more athletic.
We had shooters, what we lacked was elite ball handlers and shot creators.
Fournier was good shooter, Augustine was good, Vucevic became good, Ross was good, Isaac and Gordon were sligthly below average. There was no one who could create 1vs1 late in the game, no one to break half court defense.
Banchero and Franz should compliment each other and become next great wing/forward duo after Brown/ Tatum. Having two of those guys would be huge, especially that Banchero is better at iso and Wagner at pick and roll.
We can adres shooting in free agency and trades after we draft our creator.
Not sure I see the Tatum and Banchero comparison at all. Are we sure his ceiling is not just Julius Randle with better passing? Also I am extremely skeptical of Banchero willingness to be in a small market. I am not trying to take him down and trash him I think he would be a decent choice and I get the need for another play maker but I just feel more comfortable with Jabari and Chet. I think his flaws are being a little over looked. The reality is they all have flaws so you need to determine which one of these three has the higher likelihood of improving those swing skills.
