I've finally seen what the problem is.

You're exactly right that you're defining a #2 differently than most people do. Most people define a #2 as, if the NBA did a redraft of all its players, said player would go in the second round.

I think he has a few more problems than that. Sure he's mostly right on how he's defining the players, but his analysis of a lot of players (especially Andre) has been WAY off base.

Iggy is a 5-tool NBA player. There are maybe 6 to 7 of them in the league Max. Iggy's only problem is his demeanor. He does not have the mentality to want to take over a game, and be the main shot taker. That does not mean he isn't skilled, or very saught after. Cause he clearly is. Iggy is not a 3 or 4 option. That's just a stupid, and ridiculous statement.

Once Iguodala has that go-to guy, hopefully on the inside at PF, he will then be more comfortable playing, and using his 5-tool skills. A dominate inside player, who will draw double teams will open up the floor dramatically for Iggy, our PG, whether that's Miller, or a newly drafted one. As well as Thad Young.

I agree that Iggy won't likely ever develope that # 1 mentality that a true # 1 has to have. But that is not to suggest that he does not have the overall complete skill set that few in this league has.
Sure players like Pierce, and Redd, and Vince Carter all have that mentality, and all average more points. But those guys have never led their team to any sort of success without MAJOR help at other positions on their teams. And none of those players have anywhere near the overall 5-tool skill set that a Iguodala has. Until Iggy is afforded the same opportunities that Pierce now has with KG & Allen. Or Carter did once he got a younger Kidd & Jefferson to play with. Not to mention a then healthy K-Mart. Until then, saying Iggy is nothing more than a 3rd or 4th level player is absolute stupidity!!

Dala has shown some bad body language on the court and has glared at some of his teammates recently- but I still don't see him as a prima dona or a bad influence in the locker room. I think he still has a level head on his shoulders and is frustrated, just like everyone else.

http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/six ... what_.html

"I'm just upset we're not playing up to our ability in games,'' he said after finishing with 16 points, seven rebounds, four fouls and five turnovers in 33:27. "We get times where we're down mentally. It's just tough, losing. It's losing, that's what it is . . . I think we've got a group of guys who can win. We may not have the most talent, but we certainly can win.

"When you don't get results, you're going to be upset. It'd be tough for me not to be upset. I just want to stop losing . . . every team has something they think they need. We're just really young right now; we don't know how to respond to a 7-0 run. There are times when we need to execute an offensive play, we might have mental lapses.''

Case in point: Down 95-85 with 5:44 left, they came out of a timeout and saw Iguodala get a running one-hander blocked by Bosh, Samuel Dalembert turn the ball over, Green hit a driving layup, then get another drive blocked by Moon and shoot a three-point airball.

"We have guys who are really young,'' Iguodala said. "We have guys who don't understand small details yet. You really can't force it on them; even myself, I'm young. I go through times where I might force a shot at the wrong time.''

Or, double-teaming by the Raptors notwithstanding, he managed just two shots in the second and third quarters and only six after the first quarter.

"Nothing against the team or the playcalling, that's just trying to find the right spots,'' Iguodala said. "I'll just put that on myself, really try not to let that happen as much as it has been lately. You try to keep your composure, you try to stay levelheaded, [but] we're all human. If we have any guy who's just happy about where we're at, they don't need to be a part of it. But I feel like everybody's a little upset, some more than others. Hopefully, we can turn that bad vibe we have as far as losing into something good.'' *

The concept of Iggy being a #2 will NEVER sit well with me. I believe that He couldn't replace scottie pippen and win a CHIP (yes I said CHIP yet again) with Jordan and he couldn't replace Kobe and/or D. Wade and win a Chip with Shaq. So Who would need to be the #1 to Iggy's #2? Bill Russel? Wilt? He's a #3-4. If any team construction is undertaken with the thought in mind of Iggy being the #2 now and of the future will result in our Sixers being stankin arse gahbadge. We need atleast two players better than Iggy on this team. Two #2's with Iggy and Miller might be able to get us there.

I'm also quite sure that my criteria for being a #1 is higher than most. Carmelo, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, and Micheal Redd are all #2's. Joe Johnson is a #3 while Iggy is improving from a #4 to a #3. Iggy will NEVER be a #2.

So what if he's not as good as Scottie Pippen, the best sidekick ever in the NBA.

Stop comparing him to great, future HOF players. That's just straight up unreasonable.

If Iggy is softer than Graham, then there's a problem. Graham is SOFT.

BTW I think Graham was drafted to rectify the Raptor's mistake of not drafting Iggy the year before. So consider Graham a carbon copy of Iggy, at least in the then Raptor management's eyes.

See this is why I like Iggy. He knows what's going on and isn't just throwing the team under the buss. He knows this year they aren't goign anywhere and he will be happier next year.

You know every thread here, no matter what the subject, always goes on a little tangent about trading Miller.

Anyways, it depends on the nature of Iggy's sulking, which would ultimately determine if he is this team's franchise player. If the sulking is like the "I feel sorry for myself because I play on a bad team" variety, then I think the Sixers should really consider trading him. Iggy can probably get you back some really good pieces back and have more cap room since you don't have to pay him.

Did you just seen Graham dunk over Dalambert? Why can't Iggy make plays like that? because he is SOFT.

Yeah, because Iguodala's never dunked over someone or taken it strong to the hoop.

Check out the dunk at the 1 minute mark.

Check out the first dunk here, and the dunk at the 2:45 mark. And the 3:10 mark:

these aren't scrubs he's dunking on, either.

Igoudala is actually looking better and better as guys like Lou, Thad and Jason Smith round into form. If this team could add a playmaking stud Point Guard and a bruisinig rebounder with some more size than Evans in the offseason, this is a real NBA team all of the sudden.

Andre Miller has two very big deficiencies. His lack of range really (IMO) makes it harder for Iguodala to drive. And maybe one that could play defense would help.

That headline by RealGM is HORRIBLE. There's no sniping at teammates in that article they used as source. Heck, the only quote from a teammate was from willie green defending him.

Adding a good PF is going to have a tremendously positive domino effect on all of the other players on the team.

I'm not worried about Iggy's future on the team or anything like that.

The only real concern I have is finding a way to fix that one glaring hole that the team has.

I don't think it's about adding somone "better" than Miller. I just think they need a quicker presence who has good size and the ability to take over a game. Miller is great, and I am a HUGE fan of his, but the way the Sixers are looking like they're coming together, they'll need a guy who can/will impose his will on a game. That's never been Miller's thing.

They obviously want to be able to run with multiple guys handling the ball and running the offense. In orde rto do this, you need a point who can really get his own shot when running off the ball. Like Orlando did when Penny was running the show. Someone who can distribute, run off a screen and post like crazy

If Young turns out to be the answer at SF- and I hope he starts next week and continues to be our starter at SF for the next 12 years...

Do you think Dala is well suited to play SG?

Dala has improved his jumper, and has a good handle, but he may be bulked up to the point that he can't stay in front of some SG's (I'm asking your opinion, I honestly don't know.)

It will be good that with Young and Dala they can easily switch off on D (and even cover PF's on some switches if needed) but I do worry they are both to big to switch onto PG's and small SG's.

Its certainly worth a try. What do you all think? In a perfect world do you want Dala at the starting SG or SF?

I understand that when you love your team you look at your players with bias and sometimes let that cloud your judgement. Iguodala is a nice player , decent handles , vision and athleticism. But his flaws are very visible and I wonder if he will ever fix them. I don't think Iguodala will ever be a great shooter from long range. Another thing is his touch; when at the rim is very hard and he rarely finishes to complete a play unless dunking or dropping off a pass. He does not play well in the post in spite of his obvious strength and size. His handles are more about slashing then actual dexterity with the ball. Maybe he will improve but that maybe his the reason why I can't justify making him a max player. This is my only argument. Dalembert is already overpaid , maybe if we got rid of his contract , I would be more inclined to give Iguodala a large deal but until then I can not see how it is in the best interest of the team in the long run. Insult me if you like , question my decision that 's fine . You have a right to feel however you like.
