Ben Simmons is changing that. I actually started looking at those Thon Maker mix tapes on You Tube, which led me to Ben 3years back. I watched as many of the LSU games as I could on cable in Oz, luckily most of them were broadcast.
I watched the draft and when the Sixers took Ben I started to read about the team, and The Process. I’m hooked and a believer btw. T- Shirts on order, When he got injured last year I was so disappointed and have been looking forward to this season ever since.
I apologise for getting onto the bandwagon now and not having to sit through the last decade but in my defence my rugby league team in Oz, South Sydney Rabbitohs, went 43 years between championships so I have suffered.
As for Ben’s start, wow! If he did nothing more for the rest of his career, except to repeat his stats from his first 8 rookie games,
18.5 pts 9.6 reb 7.9 assists .4 blk 1.5 where would that sit him as an NBA player?
Hi all, I may as well just copy and paste this post as it is nearly identical to my situation. Just swap Jams Rabbitohs for my RL team WestsTigers and I am done.
Hopefully you all won't be inundated with dumb arse Aussies like the unfortunate 49er fans experienced when one of our stars played in the nfl as a 30 y.o rookie a couple of years ago.
Jams mentioned his team sucked and I too have suffered and probably worse than him. However the vibe here on fan forums and the atmosphere at games compared to when my tigers were last successful are delightfully similar. And after 9 games I am completely caught up in The Process.
Why I mention my team is for those who may like auspicious coincidences.
In 2005 the Tigers had a young team and a couple of soon to be stars, one in particular that was hypnotising fans with his unbelievable and rare attacking talent. The team was super entertaining to watch but being young struggled with defense. Then things clicked half way through the year and they went on to win the premiership/ championship. No one gave them a hope and in fact at one stage the betting odds were as low as 151:1 to win. As some here may not know how that stacks up and for comparison I thought I would check out what the sixers are paying right now to win the championship ....... 151:1!
Anyway I look forward to being apart of this special time you are all already enjoying.
