He is poisoning the well with these comments because he is both hurting the team, and himself. If he is frustrated with his situation, behind the scenes he should tell BC that he has no intention of resigning here and that he wants to be traded. Then he should bust his but on the court and be a good soldier publicly. He is acting like a spoiled child right now.HotelVitale wrote: Relax, man, there's no reason to start cursing him until he starts threatening to sit out or something. No one gains anything by you pretending you know what teams think about him, especially not that they ran some sort of secret personality tests and found out he's a 'whiny malcontent bitch.' He's worried about losing millions and millions of dollars and we did put him a weird position. He gets to be a real human and express those concerns in a modest, polite way (which is basically what that interview was). Don't start with those whole 'heartless traitor!' crap until he actually screws us.
I don't get the craziness here: we didn't know we'd have Embiid back, now we do and he's made our previous, far less promising young centers redundant. There's no simple way out of that: neither Noel nor Okafor has great value and everyone knows that, and we're sort of stuck waiting for the best offer. It's not a good situation but I don't see what people are worked up about. We have no other options for Noel/Okafor but taking the best offers, and we have Embiid as our long-term 5. The former thing is an unfortunate necessity, and the latter thing is awesome. End of story.
I agree that it is a problem, and I agree that it isn't worth really worrying about.
We have Embiid, Simmons, and two great picks coming this year. THOSE are the really consequential assets of this franchise.
We are going to have to make either 1 or 2 bad trades value wise with Noel and Okafor where we will likely bring back less talent than we send out, but them's the breaks.
If we come out of the deals with usable well fitting role players, it will be totally fine.
