i thought the team's kitchen served him something cooked in sesame oil. though, no one at the time knew that he was allergic to sesame as well as peanut. (there's also the pesticide theory.)

Shooters have easier time to adjust in today’s game. While both have the size and skillsey to play their position.

While I think Zhaire has no natural position. He’s small to be a wing while he has below average skillset for a PG.

Don’t think playing big minutes in game helps your development at all. New Players need to get a sense of game speed so it helps to get some exposure, but rawer players mostly need to drill like crazy certain moves and skills that they can use/get away with in the nba so they can become second nature. And then they have to work on decision making at nba speed/spacing, which is totally unpredictable and often takes many years to get down. For the first phase, practice games, d league, and full speed drills probably helps get those fundamentals tuned up more than full games. It’s different for every prospect but very few folks still in deep development seem to benefit from getting 35 minutes on a bad team over 15 on a good one, just makes them flail around and do things outside of what will be their future, sustainable nba role/game. Big reason why players who have modest roles to step into in years 2-4 seem to have the best track record of development.

Largely agree with this, but I would say that what is best for the development for the player doesn't matter as much as wins and losses at this point. We are a contending team and only players that can adequately fill a competitive role on our team should see the floor. That may or may not align with what is best for the development of the prospect.

Garbage time at the end of the season or not, I thought Zhaire looked fine in those 4 games last year. Certainly didn't look overwhelmed or too raw to function. I'm not looking at him being out of the rotation this year as an expected outcome due to his youth. It's a disappointment, in my eyes.

He has to earn rotation minutes, and Thybulle, is probably ahead of him, and our bench is a couple guards deeper than it was last year.

I won’t be disappointed if he doesn’t make the rotation this year.

Bodner (on the Ricky) said that Smith was showing a much improved shot in camp last week. IF that is correct, it is disappointing not seeing him playing at least a little with the core talent.

"He effectively didn't really have a year last year, one," Brown said at practice Wednesday. "Two, you're taking a college three/four man and trying to make him a two. Three, just the environment of NBA basketball and words and all that, is drowning, it really is drowning. And so you add in all that into a melting pot, and he's still young, I think it shouldn't be out of the ordinary where he comes in and he still plays like he has a lot more to learn and grow, because he does. I think that's fair."

"I think Zhaire is just a byproduct of the environment, his route to this year," Brown said. "Quite possibly, things could have been expedited if he had already had a full year without the injury. But going too fast too soon, he's still young and he's still ours, [that's] where my head is at."

Take away the "nice guy Brett" filter and what he's really saying is that Zhaire's development hasn't made great progress and that he's overwhelmed.

I look forward to seeing Smith, Shaayok and Pelle working hard in Wilmington in their auditions for being a part of the rotation next season. Gives some meaning to the Blue Coat games.

Sounded like he was more involved last night.

Feel like he would look better playing with the top guys as opposed to the end of the bench. But if he’s not earning those minutes yet not a lot you can do.

It’s a long season I’m sure he’ll get an opportunity. Heck maybe tomorrow with Simmons Ennis and Horford taking the night off.

They're all taking the night off? Where did you read that?

i apologized for entertaining thoughts of trading zhaire. with no highlight alley oops or put back duns, that was the best game ive seen from him. he looked like a guard. bringing back the john starks comparison.

i was waiting to be impressed by his man to man defense, and it was apparent last night. he used his body to hug ballhandlers after picks; something korkmaz has to learn. he doesnt have thybulle's knack with the hands, but he's there to block the floater.

he 'forced' joe johnson into a turnover. he stressed another dude one on one and the tipped the rock out of bounds leaving the pistons 2 seconds on the shot clock. wasn't asked to guard the point. but he looks good running around chasing shooters.

offensively, he peneterated to the cup but did not finish strong against a a weak defender, but stepped it up and didso thereafter. his turnover resulted from a good idea, but a bad no look pass to a trailing norvel pelle.

most impressively, he got a rebound, the defender thought he was gonna son the youngbau, after which zhaire ran it up court, gave dude a crossover behind the back at the three point line leaving his man in the dust, and the banged the wideopen three with no neither hesitation nor celebration. very pro.

just turned 20 in june and if last night were my first time seeing him or knowing anything about him, i'd be pretty excited considering his age.

The dude looks fine when he's on the court. Let him swim, Brett. Furkan and Shake should not be eating ahead of Zhaire, regardless of them having their foot in the system longer. And regardless of what position they play, Trey and Raul should not be on the court first, either.
