Wonder if we can send Tobias for pure cap in the summer to a team like Spurs or Blazers that wants a quick rebuild.

Gives us ability to replace him with full MLE (Covington?) and a massive trade exception while getting under the tax.

The Tobias trades get tricky to assess. Several involve cap space and trade exceptions that may amount to a player who is worse than Tobias. While Tobias is flawed, we need as much firepower as possible to have a chance. However, over two or three years, we could possibly use the trade exception and some mid level signings to build a stronger team without Harris.

Once Harris becomes an expiring he is not only a lot more movable but the players we can move him for is massively expanded

To the Harris expiring point, Tobias hits free agency at the same time as KAT, Devin Booker, Jaylen Brown, Sabonis, Siakam, and Dejounte Murray. Some of those guys will probably sign extensions by then but a max cap slot could be really valuable that year.

I'm hopeful we can dump him for minimal cost this summer.

Of the 5 teams w/cap, most or all will "strike out" on the top guys. Hopefully one of them accepts 2 years of Tobias for "free" as a nice consolation prize.

Dumping him gives us flexibility we desperately need to reshape the roster around our big 3 of Embiid/Harden/Maxey.

ET has been retired for a couple years and was pretty bad when still active.
