Why did Maxey fall to the 20s? Size and question about his shot?

His elite speed should have been obvious. In fact elite speed made John Wall the #1 pick of his draft class and he also had a suspect shot, which never panned out in the NBA like it has for Maxey.

Ugh I forgot about that draft, where the Warriors picked Wiseman #2 after just 2 college games.

They were trying to trade down but they should have drafted any number of players drafted later, instead of worrying about drafting players too high.

His shot being pretty bad was definitely a concern. He was also not great defensively at Kentucky. And he played with a sophomore Ashton Hagans and Immanuel Quickley, so it wasn't really his show. I think he was (obviously) undervalued, but he fell a bit too far. I had him way, way wrong in that draft. I think I wanted RJ Hampton or something.

I remember coach Calipari publicly stating that Maxey was going to be a good one at the pro level. There was a ton of guard depth on that Kentucky roster. Tyler Herro included.

College coaches are always going to cape for their players, especially since Calipari's pitch to recruits is that he can get them into the NBA, as first round picks if not lottery picks.
